a NICE leather tote bag. For school stuff, weekend stuff, a shopper, etc. A multi-purpose bag that is big enough to hold everything, but not ugly.

I am in LOVE with this Coach one, but there is no way I can plop down the $400 it costs. I appreciate the quality of Coach, and I have a couple Coach purses, but I just can't do this one. I would so much rather spend the $400 on other stuff we need...

So anyone know where I can find a nice leather bag that isn't going to break the bank? Any suggestions on where to look? I've been to TJ Maxx a couple times this week and I've seen Coach leather multi-function totes for $250 (only tan, blue or red), but that's still more than I want to spend.

Something like this:

TIA

I have seen similar bags by nine west and xoxo. I don't know if they are real leather though. I know you live near me did you try MJM designer shoes in the Mayfair shopping center? They have some cute inexpensive ones there.

I saw some nice ones at Macy's. Believe it or not in the luggage aisle at Kmart (Penn Station) they had nice leather carry-alls that I said I may get for teaching next year.

does it have to be leather? I use a Longchamp tote to go back and forth to work in the city...i have everything in there from sneakers to umbrella, wallet, book, etc. They are about $120.

I got my black leather 'teacher bag' from the coach outlet. plus I used a coupon there so it ended up being super reasonable!

Also, my MOH just got a coach bag for Xmas, my FMIL found a real one on ebay for super cheap!

cjb88 - WHERE CAN I GET A COUCH OUTLET COUPON?!?! (I wish there was a 'salivating' emoticon)

eta: I did check nine west and xoxo and MJM too (thanks Julz) - but they weren't real leather. I've had 'pleather' bags shred on me. (I'm not too good to them.)

They used to come to me in the mail in little booklets. They were awesome coupons! ... I haven't received one in a while... Maybe I was on their mailing list from buying stuff there? Maybe you can give the store call an ask them?

I actually just ordered a bag for my mom off of ebags.com...it was so nice. The prices are incredible and they have literally thousands of bags, all designer names...

I second Longchamp. Or Herve Chapelier - I've converted mine into my gym/beach bag but they're so great and not too expensive. I got both my Longchamps and my Herve at Delfino but Bloomingdales and Nordstroms sells them too.
