In ten months...

In ten months...

~There has been a massive tsunami in Indonesia.

~Devastating hurricanes in the United States.

~Resulting (hurricanes) mudslides in South America.

~A large scale earthquake in Pakistan.

Not to mention six major plane crashes. (Afghanistan, France, Greece, Venezuela, Peru, Indoniesia.)

I mean really. What can even be said?
I just wanted to mention it.

Let's think of all the sadness, destruction and loss of life...And then let's move on to thinking of positive, wonderful things (personal or public) that have happened...

60 views and noone has anything to contribute?

A kind word for the suffering? A positive experience in the past year?

Re: In ten months...

ugh...I know.
It's very very scary when you think about all of the horrible destruction that is happening in the world. I hate to say it or think it, but it really scares me to bring children into the world when God only knows what is going to happen next.
One of the women I work with has a son who is terrified of all that is happening. He's so afraid either another terrorist attack with happen or a hurricane on LI. He's so sweet...he keeps asking his Mom if they can move to Ohio. He feels Ohio is a safe state and nothing is going to happen there.

It keeps me grounded in life. When I think my life is so terrible. I see that people have it worse then I do.

It's scary, terrifying, sad, depressing and a million other emotions rolled into one.

If you're religious, these can all be seen as 'signs'...

If you believe in global warming, these can all be seen as 'signs'...

Then all the 'man made' things...African genocide, war in the Middle East, Gaza...scare the crap out of me and make me beyond sad.

I don't know why it's all happening (and no one does, really) but I do know that it's not a good time for us right now...and yes, it makes you question the kind of life you could give a child and if you should bring a life in.

It makes me think about an earthquake in NY or a hurricane hitting LI...

Is there really a 'safe place'? Is there ever a safe time?

Prayer helps me...living like I mean it and enjoying today helps too.

I try not to think about tomorrw, because it's clear that it isn't promised. I wish that wasn't the case though.

So true, thanks for posting this and making us stop to reflect on all that's happened recently. Like the other posters said, I'm afraid of the world we'll be bringing kids up in.

This thread made me think of one of my fave quotes: 'Dream like you're gonna live forever and live like you're gonna die tomorrow.'

There is sooooo much that we don't know and if we did we'd live in paranoia. And the stuff we do know makes us ill.
I am so thankful for everyday. I understand that tomorrow is not promised. I make sure I kiss and tell my daughter I love her a thousands times a day. I do the same with FH.
I am so scared of the future. I try not to think about it and jsut worry about today.
