In the elevator this morning...

In the elevator this morning...

I walked in and it was crowded. I said good morning and keep in mind, I JUST walked in, had my jacket on, bag and everything - I hear a voice in the back of the elevator 'Jen can I ask you a question?' So being the nice HR person that I am, and bc it was crowded - I obliged. Fine. So, I get off on my floor, and I hear another voice behind me, 'Jen can I ask you a quick question?'.

PEOPLE - can I get my jacket off? Turn my computer on? Maybe pee first? COME ON!!

God help me.

I know the feeling. Sometimes people will see me coming in juggling my lunch, my water, and my keys in my hand, pregnant, and they still feel compelled to stop me and leisurely ask me to explain to them how to reinstall windows on their home computer!!

I find that completely rude. In less it was an actual emergency, (which I doubt it was ), they should have had the common courtesy to have waited AT THE VERY LEAST until you got into your office. To be honest, in the workplace I think it is only polite that you allow co-workers a few moments to get settled in at the beginning of the day. Maybe that is only how I am. How did you answer them?
