fh and i are paying for everything.... we are working our a es off!!
everyone is awars of this...
of course people who are 'of age' are invited with a guest.
i have a friend from ohio..who knows many people who will be at my wedding, tell me that she is goingto bring this guy frioend of hers from DC!!! she hasn't seen him in years!!
I understand if you arent going to know anyone.. i would even get it if you were traveling with him from ohio...but this i dont get..
and here is why..
i assumed that she would be stayingin a hotel the night before with my other college people to plit the cost (do you think they will want to stay with this random guy?)
also i fear that he will back out last minute, because hey.. what does he care
and of course.. she obviously will not be 'covering her plate' if you know what i mean.. which honestly i dont expect because she is already coming from ohio.. but why add on a guest?
tell me your thoughts and tell me if i am wrong.. o am fine with the truth..
i just find it a little disrespectful..this isn;t a 'party', the kicker is my other college friends will be dateless!! so what is the need?

Re: in the mood to vent...
I think .... shame on you for going to school in ohio and having all of these oot guests!!!!!!!! ha ha ha ha.. ok seriously...
I agree with you! I think that if she were coming from Ohio and wouldn't know anyone then I could TOTALLY understand her bringing a guest. But since she will be seeing a bunch of people she knows then there's more of a reason to not bring a guest... esp someone who she hasn't seen in years! I do think that she's most likely assuming that you are inviting her with a guest. So in her eyes she probably doesn't realize.
Perhaps you could just mention something about splitting the hotel room with the other girls? Maybe she will get the hint that way?

Re: in the mood to vent...
we all went to school here.
she KNOWS we are paying for ait all and asked and said she would understand if i wasn't inviting her with a guest...so she basically put me on the spot...
so i said this...
well obviously i invited you with guest that is proper etiqutiie (sp), but how are so & so gonna feel ... i though you were going to share a room? you might have to get a room on your own.
i thought that was a good reaponse as opposed to saying
R U CRAZY WHY ARE YOU GOING TO BRING THIS STRANGER!!!! YOU TOOL!!!!

tell her that unless people are in an established relationship, they are not invited with a guest, you guys drew a firm line to save costs.

Re: in the mood to vent...
I agree with you.... we were not going to invite anyone who wasn't in a serious relationship with a guest and got sh*t for it from FMIL....she said that anyone over 18 should be invited with guest, meaning all of his cousins...I don't agree with it... I think that if you are not in a serious relationship and as long as you know other people at the wedding then you should just come by yourself.
Would you just tell her that you are trying to keep costs down and you were not planning on inviting guests who were not engaged/married with a guest as long as they knew other people at the wedding...I would totally understand if my friend said that to me.

there should be no one at your wedding that either you or your FH have never met...

Re: in the mood to vent...
too late...
i was undwer the impression that 'etiquette', was to invite with guest.... i am upset that she is selfish and has no common sense or consideration.
as far a people being at my wedding that i don't know.. i wish!!! i won't know half the people there. that irks me soooo much!!!

you should make sure your MOH or someone tells everyone how generous you all, since it is NOT required that you did that. hopefully they'll give better gifts!

Re: in the mood to vent...
if you invited her with a guest then I think you then invited her with anyone she feels like bringing. Once you say and guest you cant be upset with whoever she decides to bring.
Sorry if thats not what you wanted to hear. I invited all my single people with guest because who am I to say who is in a serious relationship or not.

Re: in the mood to vent...
be firm with her.. don't let guests dictate what's going on, just remember that she is the one being inconsiderate so if she takes offense it's her problem. you can't afford to pay for everyone to bring a friend.. only people in serious relationships, or guests that don't know any other guests.
