In the spirit of FMIL....(too long, forgive me)

This is what bugs the crap out of me about my FMIL. Quick backstory, we were engaged on Nov. 1 (hurray!) and on Nov. 2 she offered to throw us our e-party, great one less thing for us to worry about. or so I thought. she wants to hold it at a local vfw, where all her fam. events are held, i.e. bridal showers, grad. parties, etc. so great, no problem with me and FH, we both knew if we had an e-party it would be there. so now we have to book the place, and first, she wanted it be in May, but that was no good for anyone (my fam or hers) so she said April then out of the blue, its June. whatever, no prob just book the stupid date at this point. so on sunday, fh said that his mom & grandpa were going down on friday to see whats avail, so I say to him, I'll check with my mom now and let you know, figuering we'd save time that way, no going back & forth about the date. so i just spoke to him and he said that even though they were supposed to go yesterday, they didn't b/c of some bs reason. this women is so full of it when it comes to planning this e-party that i have already had it. hope you can follow this and sorry its so long, but i'm sure i'm not the only one...thoughts?

maybe you could go to the vfw, find out the open dates in those months, then let her know, and she can book one date?

Not to be mean but if this is the case it will only get worse.. this is YOUR Eparty and if financially you can handle the party, I say save the aggrivation and do it yourselves.

i agree with you that things are only going to get worse. but i want to let her do this for us, not only for financial reasons, but b/c she is very excited about the wedding and wants to do something for us. hopefully, things will work out for the best. thanks for the help, ladies...keep the ideas coming...

Since she didn't go to the hall and check dates can you check with your family now to see what dates are good for them. This way when your FMIL goes to the hall, she'll know.

Maybe when she has this info, she'll make a move and go.

Can you casually mention to her that June is a busy party month and that you should all get moving on it

I let FH know what dates are no good. He doesn't seem to be too concerned about it, he thinks that she'll go when she can. I have also said to my FH that she's need to get it booked asap b/c June, July & August will book up fast. All I want is the hall booked, then we'll worry about who to invite. Thanks for the input, everything helps!!!

Why dont you make an appointment to go with her... be REALLY supper excited about it and she will see how much it means to you and it will make her happy and maybe she will start moving her butt. Why should she go alone anyway?? you cant let her run the whole show.. and this way you are garunteed she dosent pick a date that is bad for your family

wow, great idea. i think I'll give her a little more time to get moving on it, then I'll just grab the bulls by the horns and go down there myself. the prob w/my fmil is she needs to have things done her way or no way at all, know what I mean. FYI - this is the first wedding for her, and it may be the last, FH has 2 brothers and it doesn't look like either will ever get married. so she sees this as her one chance.

but I dont mean go down there on your own.. so she dosent get upset im saying you two go together as in you and her not you and your FH. even if you trick her.. like ask her to go shopping or out to lunch and then go ' oh we should stop by the vfw while were out together'

i understood what you meant, i'll make a day of it, so to speak. its a great idea. and i'll let everyone know how it turns out. Thanks everyone for your helpful advice. I may sound like a beotch on my post, but I'm really not, I'm just incredibly frustated and want to get something for my wedding accomplished.
