Inclined to Sleep??

Hello,

Is this a good product to get, or should I just register for the two side sleep positioners or nothing at all?

I registered for it and so did my friend. Here's a picture of her little one sleeping with it...oh so cute!!!

Your friend's baby is so cute. I think that is the same sleep positioner I have.

I have decided to take it off my registry. I heard it is not safe due to SID.... A baby suffocated and died from the wedge...

Yikes!!!

Re: Inclined to Sleep??

yeah do a google search under SIDS Alliance and Sleep Positioners, it was a little boy and it tells the whole story, very sad.

The only reason I would have the sleep positioner is so the baby doesn't roll over, but at the age when you have to worry about sids, they do not have the muscle strength to move from where you put them.. The only other thing would be if I had a baby that had reflux, but if that is the case I will see what the dr. recommends.

Take another look at the pic of your friends baby (who is adorable by the way) and see how close her mouth and nose is to the sleep positioner on her side. Well if she just turns her head...

This little boy turned his head and was not able to turn back to breathe.

That's a good point!! I'll have to mention this to her as well as keep this in mind for myself! Thanks for that advice...you're doing great research!!

Thank you.

Yeah, mention it. I mean I am sure that it is a very rare thing to happen, but why take the chance. Someone suggested just rolling up recieving blankets if the baby moves around to much. I mean what did our parents do before all this fancy stuff?? :)

Re: Inclined to Sleep??

It wasn't too long ago when parents were supposted to have their kids lie on their stomachs instead of their backs. I remember my Aunt telling me to put her kids to bed on their stomachs when I used to babysit them. How times have changed!

Re: Inclined to Sleep??

My sleep positioner (not an inclined one) says that the baby's armpits should be above the side things. That would take care of the baby's face being too close to them. But I don't know how the inclined one works.

I received both the incline wedge and sleep positioner at my shower. I plan to use the sleep positioner (placed below the baby's armpits so there is no problem with him turning his head) and the incline wedge when he's a little older and able to roll over and hold his head up.

Re: Inclined to Sleep??

I use the inclined sleep positioner and love it for Claire (she's 3 months old). I put her head father up so her armpits are way above the wedges. It prevents her from rolling over. Also it is special foam in the wedge and incline that is breathable. I tested it by holding it up to my face and trying to breathe and it was no problem, but I don't layer any blankets over her. Honestly I get more worried when she tries to sleep with her arms over her face..........
