We went to order our invitations this weekend but when we came to the wording my FH freaked out a bit. His parents are divorced, mine are not. His father is remarried but we do not consider the wife FH's 'step-mom'. I'd really like to include all of our parent's names since they are contributing a lot of $$ for our wedding. Is it okay to leave off the wife's name and say something like:
Jenny XX XXXX and Brian xxx XXX together with their parents Mr. and Mrs. XX and XX XXX and Ms. XXX XXX and Mr. XXXX invite you......
Would it be offensive to only list the dad even though he is remarried? I'd like to come up with a better solution that 'together with their parents'. Your opinions please!

Re: including divorced parents spouses on invitations
well, we have the same situation as you do, My parents are married and both of FH parents are divorced but remarried. Both of his parents did give $$$ towards the wedding so we did as follows on the invitation:
Mr and Mrs. XXXXX ( my parents) Mr and Mrs. ( his father and step mom) Mr and Mrs. XXXXx( his mom and stepfather) request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their children xxxxx
and
XXXXXX.
The invitations look beautiful!!!!
I would take aout the ands, it makes it too wordy
HOpe this helps!!!

Re: including divorced parents spouses on invitations
I also have a similar situation. My parents are still married and FI parents are divorced and both have remarried. Although we love the step parents, we chose not to include their names on the invitation, mainly b/c FMIL is contributing (but it's her money) and FFIL isn't contributing anything. This is how our invitations read:
Mr and Mrs brides parents request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter XX to XX son of Mrs. Grooms mom and Mr. Grooms dad...
We had such a hard time with this but this was our final product and everyone was happy with it!

Re: including divorced parents spouses on invitations
My parents are divorced and his are married. Same situation but opposite. This is how I did it.
Mr. (Bride Father) Ms. (Bride mother) and Mr. and Mrs. (Grooms Parents) request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their children (Bride's name) and (Groom's name) on .......
Hope this helps - you can switch the names around if you need to

Re: including divorced parents spouses on invitations
It all depends on the parents and step-parent relationships. You need to mention this to the dad before ordering the invites. Honestly I would leave off his parent's names. This could cause a war that you just do not need to deal with.

Re: including divorced parents spouses on invitations
Do you have to put your names first? For your situation I would write:
Mr. and Mrs. brides parents request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter bride to groom Son of Mr. grooms dad and Mrs. Grooms mom
this way -- your FH's 'step-mother' shouldn't be offended because he's not the 'son of' her.
I know it gets wordy, but you should see some of the invites I've received!
Re: including divorced parents spouses on invitations
I think 'together with their parents' might work best with you...but otherwise I say leave off the step mom...this is your FH's wedding and if she is not someone he wants on the invite...you shouldn't
but I agree with Michele...talk to FFIL first!!

Re: including divorced parents spouses on invitations
Thanks for the advice. Also, FMIL does not really care for the new wife either making the situation even stickier. I will get FH to have a chat with his dad!
