Including parents on invitations....

Including parents on invitations....

My FH and I are paying for most of the wedding, however, we are getting a little help from parents. The right thing to do is include them in the start of the invitation? ie: 'Mr and Mrs Smith and Mr and Mrs Jones request the honor of your presence....' -OR- 'Together with their parents, then list the parent's names, then list our names....'

MY FH thinks we have to list their names... which I can understand. What are you doing??

Re: Including parents on invitations....

even though wepaid for our entire wedding we still did

Mr. & Mrs. Arcuri
and
Mr. and Mrs. Conti
Request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their children.

We just felt it was more respectful (in our culture and tradition) to do this

We are paying for most of the wedding and the parents are helping a little bit. I put with our parents without their names.

We are paying for the wedding ourselves, not a penny from either parent, in our case we do nto want our parents names listed. our invites will read:

Because you have shared in our friendship and love we request the honor of your ....

DH & I paid for the majority of our wedding. We did,

Together with their families, Kelly & Matt invite you to join in the celebration of their marriage...

We did 'Bride, Groom, together with their parents, request the honor of your presence...'

Since we and the different parents involved contributed to the wedding in different ways, it was the most simple, all-inclusive thing to do.

we really wanted to honor our parents too (eventhough we're paying for it 100% ourselves) but in the end we decided not to include any parent info...because i couldnt get over the line 'their wedding'
i just hated it being in the third person. and i couldnt find a way to re-word it
in the end we just ended up doing:

the honor of your presence
is requested at the marriage of

bride

to

groom

date, time, location, etc.

Re: Including parents on invitations....

My parents paid for 95% of my wedding...DH's dad paid for the rehearsal dinner. Out of respect for all parents involved (all parents are divorced) we wrote it like this:

Mr. & Mrs. Robert Ricca
and
Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Reich
Request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Nancy Ann
to
Brian Thomas
Son of Mrs. Patricia Kallmeyer
and Mr. Brian Kallmeyer Sr.

We had so many parents to list that we needed to be careful of what invite we got!

I am paying for everything myself but we still included our parents names. We did...

Bride
&
Groom
with love from their parents
Mr. and Mrs. Bride and Mr. and Mrs. Groom
Request the honor of your presence ETC...

We are paying for 100% of our wedding, so we felt our names should be the only ones on the invitation. It reads as:

'You have shared in our lives through your friendship and love, we
Christine X & Christopher Y
Together with our families request the honor of your presence as we unite in marriage.

my invitation vendor didn't like it because she said it was silly to have our first/middle names but not last names and people 'wouldn't know whose wedding it was' - obviously people knew just fyi

FH and I are paying 100%. Our invite reads:

Love fills the moment
and the moment begins eternity.
We invite you,
our family and friends,
to share in this celebration of love as we,
Rhonda M. and Kenya S.
extend the bonds of friendship
to include the vows of marriage

Re: Including parents on invitations....

We wrote 'Together with their parents' without their names. FH's parents are divorced but future MIL did not change her last name, and we are not sure whether future FIL will contribute anything.
