This is a second marriage for me so FH and I are paying. 90-100 ppl small and intimate. I am looking to keep my dress, veil etc under $1000. Anyone have any pointers? Where to go? My first dress to $4500 and I can't stomach spending that again. TIA

David's Bridal has a huge selection of dresses under $1000. You could get accessories at Barron's or online (Amazon or ebay)..

I went to Paradise Bridal and I found prices very reasonable. The consultant brought me a few dresses under $1k. My dress was $1550 including a $350 belt..that was just at my budget!
David's will definitely have something in your budget. Also, I got my dress at Fantasia Bridal and got my dress for less than my already small budget because it was about to be discontinued. So you could always ask for something that's at a final markdown.

Not in the least. Now I'm not saying you will find top designer quality for $200 but you can certainly find a good quality and gorgeous dress for your $1,000 budget. David's even carries some designer lines (White by Vera Wang, Melissa Sweet, Oleg Cassini, Galina).
I think David's gets a bad wrap because you tend to not get great one on one service there. But if your on a budget I think its the best choice..I know when I go dress shopping I will check there (I'm on a similar budget) but also check markdowns at other salons. I have many friends who got great dresses there. Many brides on here included.
I do recommend using a different person for alterations. I've heard a lot of bad things about alterations..but again its just word of mouth I haven't gotten my dress yet.

I bought my DESIGNER gown from David's & received excellent customer service. I had a $3,000 budget and could have went to any higher priced boutiques but went to DB first and fell in love with my gown. Just because a store sells more designers doesn't mean that you will find something you can afford there. I wouldn't rule out any place based on an assumption.

My sister and her wife (same sex marriage) went to davids bridal and let me tell you: the dresses were beautiful! both wore strapless a-line organza gowns with sweetheart necklines and they looked so good. Plus, both dresses were under $800 total!

I've been to a whole bunch of salons. I'd recommend RK Bridal, but also there's a place called Bridal Garden, also in the city. It's hit and miss bc they're all either samples or donated gowns, but I tried on 6-10 Vera Wangs. The one I liked was originally $6800 and they had it for $1350. I know that's over your budget, but that shows what kind of discount they give. Plus, all their proceeds go to charities that help underprivileged children to help give them better education in NYC.
Also, if you're daring, check out Vows in Boston. It's a trip, but I've heard that they have wonderful deals. Dresses that would otherwise be out of most girls budget, they mark down 50-80%.

If you don't want to try davids bridal look at dresses by designer Mori Lee. They are very reasonably priced. I never heard of her before I purchased my dress. I was shocked when my consultant told me how much my dress was, it was wayyyyyyy below my budget. She mentioned that her dresses are all very reasonable and come in quickly.
Also, you can always try on dresses in a store, get the style number, and google it to find a pre-owned dress for sale. Websites like tradesy or preownedweddingdress.com are places where brides can sell their dress. Even ebay (but make sure it is an actaul bride and you aren't buying a remake from a foreign country). There are plenty of brides who want make room in their closets and are willing to part with designer dresses for cheap.

RK bridal has a great selection for super cheap. I got my designer dress there for literally 2/3's of what I would pay if I went to a higher end boutique. It's a no frills salon, but you get the most bang for your buck.
Davids Bridal has great dresses too, but when I looked, I wasn't happy about the variety. If you're very picky it might not be the way to go.
