Inexpensive Honeymoon Options?

Can anyone think of any? Preferably in the Caribbean somewhere. Maybe Bermuda. Is Aruba/Curacao cheaper than the Caribbean? Thanks.

Are you into cruises?? I find them to be the most reasonably priced vacation options out there. All your meals are included and you only have to unpack once. I know there is a cruise that goes to Bermuda that leaves right from the NYC pier, so you won't have to spend money on airfare.

When will you be taking your honeymoon? Between May and December, prices in the Carib are generally lower b/c it's hurricane season.

I don't think Bermuda, in general, is a 'budget' destination.

I was happy with the help I got from Liberty Travel in planning part of our honeymoon. They have Caribbean sales often, and the packages/prices are good.

I've heard that good deals can be found for the Dominican Republic, Mexico (east coast near Caribbean), USVI, Jamaica. Check out sites like fodors.com and caribbean-on-line.com for good advice.

I'm pretty sure you can get a REALLY good deal on the Bermuda cruises, that leave right out of NYC... A friend of mine sent her parents for their anniversary and it cost her MAYBE $1500 for both... I know it is a WONDERFUL cruise!! I know a lot of people who've been on the cruise more than once! Good luck in your search! I would have to say that the Bermuda Cruise is probably your best bet because you don't have to pay for airfare!

Typically Bermuda and Aruba are not what I would call budget destinations. But if you around you may find good deals. I think the Bermuda cruise may be cheaper than staying on the island. To eat can be pricey on the island. I took the cruise that left from NY 2 summers ago and it was nice. The crowd was a little older (55+) but it can all depend on the week you go. I went in July and I definitely did not pay 1500 for two. It was more but can't remember the exact price.

I think you can get good deals to DR, Jamaica, Mexico and the Bahamas. DR is defintely a budget destination. I have been there twice. The offer all-inclusive resorts (food, drink, activities). It makes a big difference when you don't pay for food and alcohol.

My friends parents went in May, it's possible that she got a good deal.. I know that it was outrageously cheap... But it probably depends on what cruise ship you go on as well... The only reason why I suggested a cruise to Bermuda is because there is no airfare involved. Good luck on your planning.

We went to Bermuda on Royal Caribbean - we booked a top cabin with an oceanview and balcony it cost $1550 EACH. However, you can get great deals for $700 each but beware the rooms are very small!! Bermuda itself is VERY expensive - we ate a few meals on the island which were pricey but worth it. Cruising into Bermuda is much cheaper than staying on island (300-400 a nite in some resorts). Be careful of spending on the ship - they give you a seapass, no cash allowed-- (alcohol and some juices arent included) at the end of our trip, youre presented with your bill. Our bill came to $700 plus you have to tip your waiters and stateroom attendants at the end which cost an additional 150. This didnt include the 600 or so we spent on the island for various tours, eating, shopping. I've also been to Jamaica and you can find great deals there as well- I stayed staying in Jamaica for 1200-1500 all inclusive -- (airfare, hotels, meals) for a week. I stayed at Braco Village which was very nice. Go to Liberty Travel- they have tons of offers.

You can also look in the newspaper for specials. The Dominican Republic is definitely less expensive that other Caribbean destinations.

I know Cancun and Acapulco in Mexico are relatively inexpensive.

I've been to Bermuda, and while it's VERY beautiful, I wouldn't exactly call it budget. If you're considering going, seriously consider cruising, since eating on the island is expensive! I remember buying a 20 oz. coke, and it being something like $3, in a small deli.
As far as budget destinations, a friend of mine just went on a honeymoon to Punta Cana (sp?) in the Dominican Republic. She had a great time, and according to her, it was dirt cheap. I don't know exact details on price (not my style to ask), but for her to say it was cheap, it must have been.

also if you go to a travel agent that specifically does one area...they can offer you better deals..

We used Liberty Travel in Levittown and we satyed in all 4 and 5 star hotels (Ritz, westin, etc) for 2+ weeks and it was $6000...which I thought was a great price...considering we paid full fare airfare...so we could upgrade to business with miles...

LT doesn't charge you for their sevrices, but they get a comission from the place that you book...
