Re: Inexpensive Placecard Holders
How about cute little clips that they sell for offices to hold papers? Does it have to specifically be marketed for placecards? Do you have a theme -- if so, you can incorporate lots if inexpensive things -- fruit, you can punch out a hole and ribbon them to the seats, you can make little slips and put them in small frames -- SO many ideas. Do you have a theme?

Re: Inexpensive Placecard Holders
hmm.. all great ideas but I think a little too intricate.
This would be for my RD- 42 people.. I'd rather do assgined seating cause I think it is easier to be told where to sit- plus, I have two BMs that don't talk-- I have a bunch of college aged cousins- that I want to sit together. etc. etc
Def no theme.. the ONLY thing I would MAYBE consider is something having to do with tax day-- my RD is on April 15th.. but, I think that may start easing into 'cheesedom'.
I really just wanted something cheap. simple and no hearts. Ebay's got a ton of heart ones..
OK, so that is like 5-7 tables? Get a frame or better, get cork board in a frame and just pin the name of each person as to be seated at each table. I have done that for parties we have thrown and work events and works great and can be done in a jif. I hope I am explaining this clearly.

Re: Inexpensive Placecard Holders
You actually just gave me an idea!!!
LIGHTBULB OVER HEAD
I can use wine corks and slice a slit in them then place a piece card stock in as the place card.
It actually goes nice with the restaurant- italian, with pics of Italy throughout the room!!
I live in the city and don't know so many LI places..

GREAT idea -- and I bet if you ask the restaurant, they will give you a busy night's woth of corks from the week before. So, um, I will be um, 'borrowing' that for future events.

It's a craft store. They're all across the country. They have a small wedding section. (BTW- I meant to say 'Michael's'. I just made a typo)

Re: Inexpensive Placecard Holders
Me and FH are bidding on corks right now on ebay..
They seriously have EVERYTHING there!
My dad also makes his own wine-- he can def get me ones- but they'll be blank. He orders them to cork his bottles. I'd rather have clean used ones with writing on them- gives it more character.
The lot we are bidding on has 150 corks- we need 42.. The current bis os 1.99- I'll be happy to give you my leftovers..

I like your new idea better for the RD- Especially since your dad bottles his own wine. (Yum, yum)
Thanks!
Let me just say for the record he WILL NOT be serving this wine at any time during the wedding weekend..

Well- I just started there-- I have always mostly worked at ad agencies.. Most of the people there are event planners-- but I am doing marketing/promotions..
We do events/promotions around Lifestyle interests-- food, wine, music, sports, etc. with celebrity tie in's.
i.e. Napa Food & Wine festival, BBQ'ing with Bobby Flay, private catered lunchs with Tom Colicchio, etc.
