Has anyone ever had an ingrown toenail? My toe is KILLING me around the corner of the nail, especially now wearing boots and closed toe shoes. Anyone ever had that? Do I need to go to the dr.? What do they do for it?

yes i have have them before soak your foot in epsom salts put bacitracin on it go to the footdoctor b/c if you wait, it can get really infected... this way they can cut the nail a little bit and let the irritation/infection clear up...
i have had them b/f and they are really painful

I made an appt with the foot dr. for next Tues. morning. I really want it to be cleared up before the wedding and HM in a few weeks!

I just had one removed 2 weeks ago. It's finally feeling ok, but it hurt for a while after he removed it. Mine was all the way down below the nail bed. I'm just happy it's gone!

My friend just had them removed from her big toes. They cut out the whole corner of the nail. YIKES!!

I've had this happen to me before. Last year I had one removed. It sucks! Definately get it taken care of right away. I let mine get to the point of swollen, puss & blood! IWE! sorry to groos you out.
they had to inject my foot with like 10 needles, then they cut about 1/2 my toenail off, vertically! It didn't heal for a long time!
But it doesn't sound like you are to this point yet! THANK GOD!r

I had the same thing happen to me once... had a toe fungus on my big toe and they cut half of the nail off as well (vertically). My foot doctor was excellent though. He put a nice local anesthetic on there and cut away. Didn't hut at all (not even a little).
Took over six months for the nail to finally grow back to its normal length... but all is good now.

I am prone to ingrown toenails. Sometimes I can remedy them myself by soaking my foot, and regularly pushing the skin back. I also sometimes clip that corner of my toe nail, but that's not the best idea, b/c once it grows back, it gets ingrown again!
I've had to go to the dr. to have part of the nail removed twice. They numbed the toe both times and cut away half of the nail vertically. It really didn't hurt much at all...the ingrown toe nail hurt more.
If it continues to bother you, go to the dr. before it gets infected.
