Inlaw trouble!

Inlaw trouble!

My FH and I work the Ren Faire in Tuxeo during the summer. We love it and have a great time. However Joe (FH) younger sister Terry who is 15 wants to go up. I offered to have free passes waiting for them at the door if the wanted to come up any time. Well it turns out that his mother won't allow terry to go up because they blame the Ren Faire for joe leaving the catholic church. He left the church yrs before he met me, but they took him to the ren faire once when he was 8 for one darn day! So they are blaming the faire for this and are not allowing his sister to ever attend! I wanted to buy one of the fairy corests that i figured she could wear for the wedding, to give her for christmas, but now we are worried they would throw it out! I'm so pissed off at theses people!

Oh Bonnie, that's insane!!!!!! I'm Catholic (tho I don't attend church) and I love attending that Ren Faire!!!! I didn't make it this year due to the wedding planning, but usually I go and it's always a great time.

It's so much fun, I can't believe their reasoning. Doing things like that is just going to make her rebel even more as she gets older and realizes that they're being ridiculous!!!

So, if the Faire turns you into a nonbeliever than how come they are still Catholic themselves?

Sounds like they dont trust their daughter to have HER OWN beliefs. If she decides not to be Catholic in her life, she will do so whether or not she attends a Faire.

Anyway, if you get her a corset to wear to the wedding, I cant imagine they would throw it out just because they dont like it. You should make sure she would be comfortable wearing something like that first.

Good luck!

Renaissance Faire is a festival that happens every summer in tuxeo, up state ny. Its a wonderful festavil with jousting, singing, archory, actors predending to be the Queen, robinhood, little john, etc... its really nice. And she wants to go! Poor kid, she'll be 16 yr and they can't stop her from going then!

Oh yes, it would be one comfortable. I would get her one for a young girl and not an adult. It would look nice without making her look like she was falling out and she wants to dress up so badly! She begged us to buy her a costume. Oh and yes they would throw it out! the corest or bodous actually cost $200! I know joe will uninvite if they did that, but we both wouldnt put it past them.

I'm sorry I know what you're going through is frustrating but the idea that the Ren Faire could take an 8 y.o away from the church is so ridiculous. I don't know what to say. The best way to deal with these people is to laugh at them. In HS I had people threatening to burn me at the stake. Apparently they thought that was funny.

the fathers exact words to Terry were 'if you go to that faire, you'll come back a Pagan!'
