inlaws....

So, in yet another attempt to bridge the ever widening gap between me and FMIL... i brought her a book. the everything guide to being the mother of the groom. Figuring she has been the mother of the bride twice, and wanting her to feel like she matters. Her reaction.... 'Is this a hint that i should start saving for the rehearsal dinner'. Please just shoot me, i seriuously dont think i can live with these people as my in laws

Why don't you find a way to try an bond with your FMIL? Maybe tea together some day? My FMIL and I just went to work on the registry the other day (stand in for FH who had to work late) and we had a positively delightful time with the scan gun and poking fun at the hideous wedding gowns on display.

But hang in there, stay positive, and you'll find some common ground somewhere.

....and if all else fails, there's always duct tape...

This is just the latest in a 4 year string of FMIL hating me. its okay, Im not to fond of my in laws either. They treat our daughter pretty badly too. There is no bonding in our future. Right now were all lucky we are still alive and havent killed each other....

Re: inlaws....

Im sorry but I believe we may be related....they sound very much like my inlaws. There is not a single THING that i have done right by these people!!! They have made this whole wedding about them and my Fiance...I am finding it sooo hard to deal with them. They are calling the shots on everything!!!! I can't take it anymore

Re: inlaws....

what i have learned, is to ignore them and stay far away. Im lucky enough that for the most part FH is on my side. So i just dont go visit, and i dont talk to them about the wedding and i dont really let them see our daughter either. The girls on this site REALLY helped me get through the worst of the drama with the in laws, and they basically told me my wedding is about me and FH, the rest of them dont matter. Just remember how happy FH makes you and you will get through it. If you need to talk or anything feel free to FM me.
