Inner Envelope

Our pocketfold invitations did not come with inner envelopes. But we bought inner envelopes online. Is something written on the inner envelope? I don't know...

Re: Inner Envelope

FYI - inner envelopes aren't necessary at all.

They were used in the older days when the mail service was bad and all envelopes would come shredded ... so they used that extra envelope so that it'll be nicer. But these days, the post office does a good job delivering things without ruining them. Just sharing a random tidbit

Re: Inner Envelope

I like the inner envelopes. It's the keepsake. i found my outers actually did look pretty crappy despite hand cancelling.

We used them to specify exactly who was invited.

So the outside would say

Mr. John Smith

the inside could either say

Mr. Smith and Guest

or John and Guest

We did out inners informally using first names. For a few close friends I actually put nicknames on the inside.

Re: Inner Envelope

I like the inner envelope. On the outer, I addressed the invitation to Mr. and Mrs. John Smith. One the inner, I addressed it to Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and, below their names, also any kids they had, i.e. Jack and Jill. That way, they know exactly who's invited.
