So I am nowhere near ready to order invites but I have been doing some looking for fun, it seems like invitations have gotten a lot less formal, so my question is this...do people still do the inner envelopes, even if the invitation is less formal?

Inner Envelope vs. Single Envelopes
I've never recieved an invitation with an inner envelope and I've been to many formal weddings. I'm not doing them. Seems like a waste to me.

I've never received an invitation without an inner envelope, I think it is the traditional way to do it and I will be using an inner envelope. I really like the pocket fold invitations.

I've received many invitations in the past couple of years and I think it's 50/50 when it comes to inner envelopes. I'm only doing one envelope. Saves me some money in the end.

I plan on doing an inner envelope. However i don't plan to write the names again. I am just doing it I guess because of tradition and if the outer envelope gets ruined in the mail.

I'm making my own (pics in the DIY album) and they are pocketfolds with just a single envelope

We are doing single envelopes BUT i didn't want it to seem plain so we added a layer of vellum (instead of tissue as well) The vellum just had our names on it (matched up to the invite) tho. so we did the & guest on the outer envelope.

We are doing single envelope (outer) but with lace paper gate folded around the invite and tied with twine & a tag. Dressing it up but still an informal invite since our wedding is not formal. The Outer envelope with be addressed with the Guest names.

Since I can't remember if there was an inner envelope with any of the wedding invitations I've received in the past, I think I'm going to skip it.

I did inner envelopes just to protect the invite a bit. I've gotten too many wedding invites that were ravaged by the mail sorters, and I wasn't planning on spending the $$ to have them hand-sorted. My inners were pretty cheap so I 'splurged' on that rather than the added postage expense.
