These invitations are driving me nuts - the inner envelopes don't have the person's address on them again, right?? Just the name(s)?

Re: Inner Envelopes...
I believe they have just the names.... but here's another question - is an inner envelope really necessary? What purpose does it serve?

Re: Inner Envelopes...
Mine came as part of the package, so I'm using them. They're certainly not necessary, in my opinion, but I think they're nice to have to hold all of the pieces together.

Re: Inner Envelopes...
the inner envelope shows who is actually invited... this is where you would put the & guest, or children or whatever...
my outer envelopes are addressed: Mr & Mrs. Joe Smith, or Ms. Jane Smith
Inner say: Mary & Joe Smith, or Jane Smith & Guest

Re: Inner Envelopes...
I have outer and inner envelopes
Outers:
Mr. and Mrs. John Smith 123 Main Street Anytown, New York 12345
Inners:
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Taken from Crane's Wedding Blue Book:
'Wedding invitations were once delivered by hand. If you were a bride back in those days, your footman delivered your invitations to your guests' homes. Their servants received the invitations and removed them from their mailing envelope, an envelope much too pedestrian for your guests to handle themselves. The servants, then, presented the invitation to your guests in its pristine inside envelope. Because the invitations were already at their destination, the inside envelopes had only the names of your guests written on them. The address was no longer needed. They just had to be directed to the appropriate members of the household.'
But nowadays... 'Your guests names are repeated on the inner envelope. this time, however, only their titles and surnames are used. (As shown above) If children under the age of eighteen are invited, their names would appear on a line beneath their parents' names.'
Personally, I think inner envelopes are used to protect the invitation inside.

Re: Inner Envelopes...
I agree, just used as protection. Definately not necessary.
