I am getting our invites ready to send to the calligrapher, and am wondering how to address my inner envelopes to married couples. Do I put the first names on the inner envelopes, ie the outter is to Mr. & Mrs. John Smith, and the inner envelope says John and Sue? Or do both say Mr and Mrs? I am confused

Re: Inner envelopes for invites
I would address them by what you normally call the couple, though Mr&Mrs is the formal way.

Re: Inner envelopes for invites
For more formal occassions you address the inner envelope: Mr. and Mrs. Smith and for more personal feel you can do first names: John and Sue or Aunt Sue.

Re: Inner envelopes for invites
I did Mr. & Mrs. with only the last name. No first name even for the single people with guest.
example
Outer: Mr. and Mrs. John Smith Inner: Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Outer: Mr. John Smith and Guest Inner: Mr. Smith and Guest
Outer: Dr. and Mrs. John Smith Inner: Doctor and Mrs. Smith

Re: Inner envelopes for invites
I addressed the inner ones using the names that I normally call them.

Re: Inner envelopes for invites
I think I'm going to use 'Aunt' and 'uncle' and such for the very close family, but everyone else is Mr. & Mrs.

Re: Inner envelopes for invites
Thanks ladies, I was wondering what to do about the Aunt/Uncle invites. It feels too formal to me to address the inners to them as Mr and Mrs, good to know some of you did more informal names on the inner invites
