inner envelopes for invites to pope and white house?

Hey --

For those of you who did or plan to send invites to the Pope and White House, what are you supposed to put on the inner envelope? I have the info for the outer envelope but have no idea how I am supposed handle the inner.

TIA

We are going to do this and will put 'His Holiness' for the Pope and not sure about the Pres... maybe just Pres and First Lady Bush.....

I don't remember what I put, but it might have been The President and Mrs. George Bush. What was funny was that we just put it into the assembly line, and so we also sent him a reply card. I realized later that he really didn't need one

Yes I plan on it...

It's 'His Holyness' on the inside of the Pope but I'm not sure about Mr. Bush...

If I had to guess it would be Mr. President and Mrs. First Lady? or Mr. and Mrs. President??

ooooh I don't know... but I'm not even kidding, the white house has an information line and most of the time during hours you can get someone on the phone-- give them a call, why not?

Yes! I know they're not coming... but they sent back congratulatory notes on the formal letterhead. I think it will be fun to put in the wedding scrapbook!

We didn't write anything on the inside envelope, and didn't include the direction cards or the reply card. It's all a formality anyway, just to get the response so why waste the extra postage?

I hope it arrives in time for the rehearsal. I want to put it in the frame we bought for my parents as a joke. Mom is quite pious when she wants to be and I'm not. So we're all going to have a big laugh over this as long as it arrives on time!

I have never heard of 'inviting' the pope to your wedding. you may thinking of the papal blessing, which is a lovely tihng to do and my FH and I are planning to do that. in order to get the papal blessing, you have to fill out some paperwork through the parish you will be getting married at. the priest that is marrying you signs it and YOU mail it to the Vatican address. (Your parish priest should have this or it might be on the Vatican website.) You will then receive a special letter from the Pope blessing your marriage. it makes a nice thing to frame and/or scrapbook.

I can't find it right now but there is a 2 to 3 page thread somewhere around about a bunch of people who sent invites to the pope. There's even the address and information on how much it costs.
