Insanity vs. therapy...

Insanity vs. therapy...

I have a confession...I iron the sheets.

My mother says I'm crazy. My sometimes overly frugal husband thinks I'm wasting electricity.

But the truth is, it makes me feel better. It's therapy.

But, last night, while I was ironing, I was thinking about it. Since everyone sees my ironing as madness, is my ironing therapy that's just fueling my sickness...?

My grandmother used to iron all her linens. She was very sane.

ETA: I think we all have our little habits that give us therapeutic joy. Things that make people look at us and go HUH?!?

I eat Big Macs a layer at a time. Have done since I was a kid. People think I am nuts. But, it helps me enjoy it.

Another 'feel good' therapy is watching cooking shows. I love Food Network and I think it is WLIW or 13 on Sundays. It is very relaxing.

Um... I think you're a little nuts for ironing sheets but who am I to say?!!

I say as long as you aren't rocking yourself in a corner while singing to a plant, iron away! If it's therapeutic for you and harmless to everyone else, there's no problem!

I used to be an ironing goddess in high school and early college. Every night I ironed my outfits and God forbid they got wrinkled, I would iron again in the morning.

I used to iron sheets, too. Especially if they were a wrinkly type.

I think laundry, overall, is therapeutic. I love watching dirty clothes come out clean

I don't think you are insane at all! I think we all have our little rituals that we get some kind of peace from. For me, it's folding laundry. I love folding laundry because it reminds me of my Grandmother when she was alive. It sounds crazy, but she was a harda$$ little old Irish lady who wanted to keep busy despite the fact that she was crippled. She insisted on helping around the house, and folding laundry became her task - she would actually get MAD if we got to it before her! It keeps her memory with me every time I fold our laundry now, and I always think of her on our old couch, smiling happily as she folded her way through a giant basket of clothes.
