Anybody ever hear of an 'inside the ribbon' card that goes in an invitations? It is supposed to tell certain people that they will be seated in a special section at the ceremony. I read a blurb on it somewhere and would like to know the particulars. Does anybody know how it works? Do they present it to the ushers? I definitely need reserved seating for certain people because I am concerned 'Aunt Cookie' will get there early and race to the front with her champagne!!!! Thanks!

Re: 'inside the ribbon'
You could just give a list to your ushers of people who should be seated in the front...but I think the separate invitation might be nice.
It could cause trouble if someone who received one asked aunt 'cookie' if she got one...

Re: 'inside the ribbon'
This is a very formal way of seating people for a ceremony. You put special ribbon/tulle to 'close-off' the seating in that area. You send an 'Please seat inside the ribbon card' with the guests invite. The guest brings the card with him or her and the usher takes it and seats them in a place of honor. Since this is no longer an everyday custom I would make sure to put instructions on the card asking your guests to bring it so that they may be seated in a special area for the ceremony. Also, give your head usher a list of people just in case someone forgets their card at home.
