We had our inspection on our condo yesterday and it didn't quite go as planned. Now our attorney has to deal with the seller's attorney to get some things fixed and get some concessions for the rest. Very frustrating - the building is only 13 months old!! If only the builder had done it right the first time! We are now having to pay for a structural engineer to come evaluate the deck b/c our inspector says it isn't in code and the seller insists it is!

Re: Inspections
i dont have much to add except that really stinks- you would think with a new build that the inspection would go smoothly. you may be able to get some $ back and some credits at closing. i hope the structural engineer isnt that expensive...good luck hon
edit for spelling

Re: Inspections
When we signed the contracts yesterday the atty told us that even new construction has its share of problems. I was surprised to hear that but I guess it's true.

Re: Inspections
Thanks! The engineer is charging us $100 an hour - and this is the best rate we got! Ugh!
