FH and I are paying for the wedding. FFIL gave us our ($$$) wedding gift early because he knew we needed asap financial wedding help. My parents are paying for my dress only. FMIL doesnt acknowledge the wedding never the less pay for anything.
My question...is it fair to only give to those who help with the wedding a gift? I saw a few people on the 09 board only gave to who helped them

my dad did zippo for the wedding. his parents were more harm than good. we basically did the whole thing ourselves. BUT we got my mom, my dad, (theyre not together anymore) and his parents all the same gift. engraved vera wang albums with the first page printed of baby pics of fh and i and a touching letter. imo, we're not thanking them for the wedding, we're making a kind gesture and thanking them for being our parents and helping us all along the way. good bad or ugly, its the only parents we have.

My parents have contributed to the wedding and we havent gotten anything from future ILs. I bought each of my parents personalized MOB and FOB frames and I will get them a gift card to Ruth Chris. I am not getting anything for future ILs. If FH wants to get them something that's up to him. I feel its important to acknowledge the people that have helped you out and that why I am doing that for my parents.
