Is there anything else I can do in its place? I know of the anniversary dance, but I cannot do that for a 'family reason'. So I wanted to get some ideas on what else I could do. Someone on this board mentioned a dance they did that had all married & engaged couples on the dance floor?? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

We got married on Oct 22, DH's parents 49th wedding anniversary was on Oct 29, we dedicated a song to them and they had a dance on the dance floor. We tried finding out what their wedding song was - but they couldn't even remember - so we had the DJ play 'Through the Years'

We may have a second dance for just the 2 of us. Since we love 2 songs, I think it is a great way to get to dance to both of them.

I did not do it and did not replace it with anything. The wedding is so short that I did not want to waste time

Some couples do the 'anniversary dance'. The DJ calls all couples up to the dance floor who are married. He starts with 'if youve been married less than 24hrs leave the dance floor, 1 year leave...etc. The last couple standing, wins something. My friend gave a boquet.

Yes, I've heard of that. I think they call it the rose dance. Each couple gets on the floor and dances to wish you luck and the ladies get a rose. Or the couple that has been married the longest gets your BoK and has to give you some words of wisdom.

you could have all the couples who are engaged come up for a dance instead and the 'next' wedding or 'last' wedding couple gets it....we had a song for all of our engaged friends to dance to but did the anniv dance, it was fun to see how long people had been married (but i understand its easier not to if there is a family thing!)
