Re: Insurance companies.....
They won't fill it for the amount that the doctor wanted without a prior authorization. So annoying!

Call the doctor and tell him what is happening. He might be able to change it for you so it doesn't need authorization. Especially if it's just an amount not the dose.

Re: Insurance companies.....
Did you get this straightened out yet?
If not, either call the Dr. and make him change it to something else or call the pharmacy and ask THEM to call the dr and get it changed. Your son should not have to wait 72 hours for PA.
a) PA for something like that should not take 72 hours. Someone (the dr, the pharmacy, the ins company) is bullshitting you
b) any good pharmacist knowing it's a kid's antibiotic,w ould have called the dr on their own to get the directions or medication changed... not let you wait 3 days for the medication. Ridiculous. I'm a pharmacy tech, this is what I do every day.
c) Chances are the dosing your MD is giving is not necessary. I don't know why they do that... either give a stronger drug or stick to the mfg recommended dosing... they did trials for a reason!
Definitely make some phone calls tomorrow. That's not necessary
Feel free to FM me if you have any questions or if I can do anything to help. Poor kid

Re: Insurance companies.....
Just an update, I got it straightened out. They ended up splitting the dosage (He has pneumonia, so the doctor says he needs the super high dosage). I just have to keep going back for a refill. Annoying, but at least he gets his meds.
