Where is the best place to get insurance on your engagement ring???
We rent and our renters insurance quoted us a really high price to insure my ring.
Help me ladies...I should have done this like 4 months ago :(

I havent done mine yet either (which is so bad) but i keep hearing that if you dont have homeowners insurance, which we do not, then use jewlerymutual. they are very good and reasonable.

Re: Insurane For your Ring???
What are you considering expensive? The price is going to be affected by your ring appraisal and your credit amongst some other factors... when I was shopping around, the price didn't change a dramatic amount from company to company.

Re: Insurane For your Ring???
I got quoted close to $500 from one place....which to me is insane! I could buy a new ring for that amount eventually!

Re: Insurane For your Ring???
Hmm... with my renter's insurance, I was quoted around $400 per year and my ring is worth 20x that amount... I went through state farm. Maybe try your auto policy company? Also, are they breaking it down into increments, monthly or quarterly? Then it's not so bad to pay $400 a year.
I know eventually, paying insurance each year you can buy a new ring eventually for the money you lay out... but you can't really look at it that way. If that's your perspective though, then no one ever said it was a rule that you HAVE to insure your ring.

Re: Insurane For your Ring???
I have jewelers mutual and the payment is roughly 1% of what my ring is worth.

Check out Jeweler's Mutual. You get to chose your deductible amount and that determines your premium.

Re: Insurane For your Ring???
We insured my ring through our homeowners insurance. I think it was 4 or 500 for the year. Not cheap but idk what I would do if I ever lost the ring or it was stolen.

Re: Insurane For your Ring???
I highly recommend Jeweler's Mutual! They are affordable and great service! I had to actually use my insurance and they were fantastic!
Keep in mind if you insure your ring with renter's or home insurance, its only covered in the home, not if something happened outside. JM covers stolen, lost, etc.

Thanks so much for the offer...I actually decided to go with Jewelers Mutual like most of the girls suggested.

exactly this. this is what I use and was so easy to do online. literally took minutes to do and was reasonably priced.

Re: Insurane For your Ring???
jewelers mutual was recommended to me as well, but we ended up going through state farm which is where our renter's insurance policy is held. the rates at state farm were slightly more affordable, and the policy coverage is nearly identical. someone previously mentioned that if you insure it through your renter's that it's only covered in the home. that isn't the case for us, as the ring is covered globally for theft, loss, etc. we got a specific jewelry insurance policy, so technically it has nothing to do with our renter's insurance. maybe that's the difference, not sure though. i took a policy with no deductible and pay about 2% of the ring's appraised value per year. hth
