Interesting Article about civil marriages...

As most of you know, I am getting married twice. Civil this year and ceremony/party next year. Here is an article my FH found.

Civil marriage on rise across USA

Tons of military personnel do this. I know about 5 of dh's friends who have done this in the past year.
They were planning a church wedding and then deployments came up so they got married by a JP to get contact benefits, money benefits, insurance and many others that the military allows spouses and not fiancee's
I do know some of them are having problems now getting married in the Roman Catholic Church but many have found parishes that will do it.

that is an interesting theory...I hope that same-sex marriages do become a reality...

It's weird though.

I do have a personal distaste for church behavior in general but the main reason for a civil marriage for us is money.

Odd that I, too, think that lately what the church has laid down as law regarding same-sex marriages is a bit harsh. I didn't realize I was in such a large (or growing) group of people.

FH & I were kind of laughing at this article, fits us almost to a T.
