interesting article about e-rings and interviews!

Re: interesting article about e-rings and interviews!

I read this! wild! I think that a ring has nothing to do with a person's effeciency...

not hiring someone or giving them a raise because of their ring is awful but i see where this article comes from. one of my supervisors eyes my ring all the time and always says 'wow, you're blinding me. Anthony (fh) must be making the big bucks'

in actuality we're both making good money but not as much as they probably think we are. Fh saved money for years to get the ring and to put forward for the wedding...

crazy huh? people are weird sometimes i guess

Hahaha too bad

My e ring and wedding band are soddered together on the bottom so that e band doesn't spin ( it is a half eternity)

Oh well

Sooo does that mean married people should take their engagement rings off and keep wedding bangs?

And once a potential interviewer sees you wearing a wedding band they are thinking -

she is a young woman, is she planning a family. are we going to hire her and then she is going to be out on maternity leave...

Re: interesting article about e-rings and interviews!

I didn't wear my e-ring during interviews. It was less about running the risk of working for a diamond-trade nonprofit, and more about the assumption that girls who are getting married shortly might be preoccupied with planning, or you know, spending half their day on a wedding message board. where would they get that idea????

i wore my ring on the first day of work, but never brought up my wedding until asked. now it's all wedding all the time up in here!

I always took e ring when I went to interviews. I didn't want to be judged based on my ring and I didn't want them thinking that I was young, getting married then having kids. It's something that ppl assume and I wasn't taking any chances. I wore my ring the first day of work and my manager who interviewed me said, I didn't know you were engaged! Now I wonder if she would've hired me if she knew I was getting married. Too bad cuz now she's stuck with me!!!

Re: interesting article about e-rings and interviews!

i just read the article. i think this type of behavior, discriminating against a job candidate or current employee based on their ring speaks more about the type of person the hiring manager is than the women wearing the ring.

it speaks volumes about how insecure the hiring manger is, male or female. when some people see an engagment ring it makes them think of their own relationship status and possibly failed marriage. or they are insecure that their own diamond isnt quite as large or that they couldnt afford a diamond of equal size for their wife.

i personally am so sick of comments about the size of my diamond. i find it a little offensive when someone asks how big it is or makes a comment about how much they think it cost. its nobodys business.

i will be interviewing after the wedding due to the fact that we're moving and i need a new job and i fully intend to wear both my e-ring and wedding band. if someone doesnt hire me because they think 'she doesnt need the money' than thats not someone i'd want to work for anyway.
