Ok I bought the new people magazine and its a wedding edition, all about misfortunes at weddings, unique weddings, touching stories and a bunch of other things...I actually thought it was the people magazine with angelica glass in it but i think it was the previous week.
They gave some stats and here they are:
-The longest wedding dress train measure 3,949.8 feet and was worn in Caudry, France, on Aug.5, 2006
-The most expensive wedding dress on record was laced with 150 carats of diamonds. It was created by dressmaker Renee Strauss and Jeweler martin Kats and cost 12 million dollars-no one bought it
-60,000,000-thats how much billionaire Lakshmi Mittal Paid for his daughter Vanisha's 04 wedding-the worlds most expensive nuptials on record
-average number of weddings taking place in the US everyday= 5,904
-around 116,000 weddings take place in Las Vegas each year
-the average number of wedding guests is 167
-average price of an engagement ring is $2,100
-average price of a wedding band is $650
-50-60% of couples live together before marrying
-July beats june-though june is commonly regarded as the most popular month for weddings, more people actually got married in july than during any other month in 2004,2005 and 2006.
-average cost of a wedding is $27,690
-average length of an engagement is 17 months
-average age of a bride=26
-average age of a groom=28
-number of weddings in the U.S. in 2006= 2,155,000
-Lauren & David Blair hold the record for the most marriage vow renewals. First marrying in 1984, they wed for the 83rd time, on Aug.16, 2004, in Vegas
-The worlds largest wedding cake was baked at the Mohegan sun casino by chef lynn mansel in 2004. It weighed 15,032 lbs. and could feed up to 59,000

Re: Interesting wedding stats
Here is the 20 million dollar cake. For the luxury brands bridal show this weekend at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Mimi So Jewelers teamed up with cake designer Nahid La Patisserie Artistique to create what might be the most expensive wedding cake ever made. With a price tag of $20 million, the cake is covered in diamonds and will be surrounded by a team of security guards throughout the event. It won't get eaten even after the event is over, as the beweled frosting is not exactly tooth-friendly, but the cake is certainly eye candy!
yes she does look gorgeous - wow I am still speechless!

OMG here is some info on their wedding
Mittal also raised eyebrows last year for the lavish wedding of his 23-year-old daughter Vanisha. Invitations for the Hindu nuptials were 20 pages thick, encased in silver, and contained jade necklaces or diamond watches for close family friends. The industrialist chartered 12 Boeing jets to fly 1,500 guests from India for five days of festivities in France that ranged from the Tulleries Gardens in Paris to the Palace of Versailles.
Fireworks filled the skies, Bollywood stars mixed with the guests, 5,000 bottles of Mouton-Rothschild 1986 were consumed, and pop star Kylie Minogue entertained the throngs before a makeshift castle
well now I could see why it cost so much..

I don't think it's ugly at all....but it's definitely not worth all of that money...you could get a dress like that for $2000, minus the diamonds ofcourse

Re: Interesting wedding stats
I wonder how much the dress with the mile-long (literally!) train cost then, I figured that would be the most expensive wedding dress...
I think it's pretty definitely not worth it. That's why nobody bought it.

First, I saw an episode on the food network about this wedding cake, it was humungous. I wonder how many days it took for that one WOOOOWWW
Second, seriously how can 27,690 be the average. It certainly is NOT the average in NY. Seriously 27,000 does not even cover the RH, so how can that be , is that for everything, dress, cake, church, shoes, etc etc etc
