FH & I are trying to decide which readings to do for the ceremony. I am Jewish, he is Catholic.
We'd like to use 1 reading from the Old Testament and 1 reading from the New Testament.
Thanks!

Re: Interfaith Brides: Please post your readings!
Jewish wedding ceremonies dont have readings like Christian wedding ceremonies do.
But if you want to incorporate readings, I suggest using something from Song of Songs. Like 'I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine'.
or from Genesis 2:18-24 The LORD God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.' Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, 'This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man.'
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

Thanks so much for posting those --- I like them both as options for the Old Testament reading.
I have always loved the 'I am my beloved's ....' but is there any more to that one, or is it just that one sentence?

This what I found for 'song of songs'
For love is as strong as death.
I hear my Beloved. See how he comes leaping on the mountains, bounding over the hills. My Beloved is like a gazelle, like a young stag.
See where he stands behind our wall. He looks in at the window, he peers through the lattice.
My Beloved lifts up his voice, he says to me, 'Come then, my love, my lovely, come.
'My dove, hiding in the clefts of the rock, in the coverts of the cliff, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet and your face is beautiful.'
My Beloved is mine and I am his. He said to me: 'Set me like a seal on your heart, For love is strong as Death, jealousy relentless as Sheol. The flash of it is a flash of fir, a flame of the Lord himself.'
Love no flood can quench, no torrents down.

Look at Song of Songs 2:16 (if you have a bible handy) and you can get the rest of the text.
Here's more from song of songs: O that you would kiss me with the kisses of your mouth! For your love is better than wine.' 1:2
'My beloved is mine and I am his.' 2:16
'How fair and pleasant you are, O loved one, delectable maiden! You are stately as a palm tree and your breasts are like its clusters. I say I will climb the palm tree and lay hold of its branches. Oh, may your breasts be like clusters of the vine, and the scent of your breath like apples, and your kisses like the best wine that goes down smoothly, gliding over lips and teeth.' 7:6-9
'I am my beloved's, and his desire is for me. Come my beloved, let us go forth into the fields, and lodge in the villages; let us go out early to the vineyards. . . . There I will give you my love.' 7:10-12

Re: Interfaith Brides: Please post your readings!
Here are our two readings for our interfaith ceremony:
From Book of Matthew 18:20: Treat yourselves and each other with respect, and remind yourselves often of what brought you together. Give the highest priority to the tenderness, gentleness and kindness that your connection deserves. When frustration, difficulties and fear assail your relationship, as they threaten all relationships at one time or another, remember to focus on what is right between you, not only the part which seems wrong. In this way, you can ride out the storms when clouds hide the face of the sun in your lives... remembering that even if you lose sight of it for a moment, the sun is still there. And if each of you takes responsibility for the quality of your life together, it will be marked by abundance and delight.
From Corinthians 13:4-7:
Love is patient, love is kind Love is not jealous or boastful. It is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. Faith, hope, and love abide, but of these three, the greatest of these is love.

OOh that 'song of songs' reading is saucy! About going out to the vineyards to 'give my love.' Hmm that naughty old testament... :)

KvsGrl, I have to say that I absolutely LOVE this one -- It is the nicest reading I have read in a long time. I'm so glad you shared.
