Re: Interfaith Ceremonies

My MOH had a Jewish Cantor and a priest officiate her ceremony. FH and I will either contact the God Squad (priest and rabbi that write in newsday - very good speakers) or just have a single interfaith officiant or even a justice of the peace or something. I'm not religious at all and FH considers himself spiritual, but doesn't agree with many facets of the catholic religion which he was raised in.

Re: Interfaith Ceremonies

i am having an interfaith ceremony with a catholic priest and a rabbi. got the priest, still looking for a rabbi (the one rabbi we really wanted was booked for that day - bummer). i thought that putting it together was going to be a huge headache cause there really aren't any rules, but it's turning out to be tons of fun cause there really aren't any rules!!

Re: Interfaith Ceremonies

We are using Msgr Jim Lisante from West Hempstead, and Rabbi Applestone from Massapequa. Danielle's friends used the Msgr, at their wedding and he was excellent....Rabbi Applestone is one of the rabbis that usually performs interfaith ceremonies with him.

Just so you know...the God Squad does not do interfaith weddings. In fact, I am not even sure if Monsignor Hartman is doing any because he is really sick. The rabbi doesn't because a rabbi who is part of a synagogue is unable to.

I am also using Monsignor Lisante and Rabbi Applestone. I have only heard AMAZING things about Monsignor.

Re: Interfaith Ceremonies

We're using a judge. FH's family has a friend who is a NY Supreme Court justice, and she's going to officiate for us. I just didn't want to deal with the priest/rabbi thing because neither of us is really religious. Also, I've heard from several friends that in order to have a priest involved, FH would have to sign something saying he would raise our children Catholic. Which he would never agree to sign (he's Jewish). So we're just bypassing the whole issue!
