Interfaith ceremony

Interfaith ceremony

Hello ladies!
I need some help. FH and I were originally looking at having our ceremony at our reception hall. But recently he has been saying he would like to have it in a chapel. I agree. I am Catholic, and he is Protestant. I don't want a Catholic mass. So I called a Non-Denominational Church near me, and spoke with the pastor. We have a meeting next weekend. My question is....will we have to have this priest/pastor? Or can we bring in someone else?
Also, for all you Catholic girls out there....if I get married at a Non-Denominational Church, can I still baptize my babies in a Catholic church?
Any info you have would be helpful....

Thanks In Advance....

I don't know if you'd have to use their pastor.

We are having an interfaith ceremony (catholic/jewish) at our RH and FH was able to get a special dispensation to get married outside of the catholic church. Our marriage will be recognized as a sacrament for FH.

I highly recommend Msgr. Jim Lisante, he has been great to work with for our interfaith wedding so far.

You should find out from the specific Chapel if you are allowed to bring in your own priest & if you are able to, I highly recommend Monsignor Lisante as well. You will have to go through certain steps & he will help you get a approval from the diocese in which will make your marriage valid in the eyes of the RC Church & you ll be able to Baptize your kids.

FM me if you have anymore questions.

Thanks for the info! I will definitely look into it. One more question...
Do you have to go through Pre-Cana to do that?

Same here .... it was a couple of hours on a Friday night, and then all day Saturday. Quick & painless.

I'm happy that someone bought this topic up. I am having an interfaith wedding as well but was not aware that I would need dispensation from the Catholic Church. Very interesting! Gonna go call my church rite now.

Thanks girls! BTW - what is a Pre-Cana?

From Wikipedia:

Pre-Cana is a course or consultation Catholic couples must undergo before they can be married in a Catholic church. The name is derived from John 2:1-12, the wedding feast at Cana in Galilee, where Jesus performed the miracle of turning water into wine.

Approaches to Pre-Cana vary among Catholic parishes. Often six weekly sessions will be led by a priest or deacon with support from a married Catholic couple. Common topic include: compatability of the couple, basic principles of Catholic marriage and family life, conflict resolution within marriage, and natural family planning. Many couples report that the best part of the Pre-Cana process are the conversations it encourages themselves to have.
