Kind of confused over here. So to sum it up my FH is Catholic-- I am not anything really. We met with an officiant who can do a non-denominational ceremony, but very personalized and we loved it. However, we are still considering having a priest as well out of respect for his beliefs and those of his family.
My question is this-- will a priest who is still associated with a church come to a reception hall and marry a catholic and a non-catholic with another officiant. I have heard that they can't and then I have heard that some will and I am just so confused and can't get to the bottom of it.
Also-- do you think a Priest would come to just say a blessing and not perform the ceremony?
Any help or even names of Priests would be so appreciated!

Re: Interfaith Ceremony ??-- Please help!
I'm catholic and my FH is (supposed to be... but he's really not much of anything..).. but we were told that a priest will NOT leave the church.. unless there is 1). a very generous donation or 2). you are just that close to the church.
My mother is very much a churchgoer, but after explaining to her that I just didn't want to get married in a church, she understood.. and she was fine with a minister. If you happen to find a priest who will leave the church, please let me know and good luck!

Re: Interfaith Ceremony ??-- Please help!
Hello,
I am here to explain this all to you both =) My original plans were to be married on the beach. I am a practicing Catholic and so is my FH. Well I called my priest and ask him to be available for our wedding. He said no! ALL religious sacraments are to be performed in church.
However, if one person is a Catholic and the other person is not, the priest can marry the both of you. However, it will not be a sacrament under the Catholic diocese.
Non-Catholic priests can marry you...Lutheran, Protestant, Etc,
but a Catholic priest will not marry you if BOTH parties are Catholic outside of the Chuch.
To confirm all of this, I contacted my diocese, as well as the Rockville Center diocese too.
Believe me, this is all accurate information. If you need any contact numbers, please let me know and I will give them to you.

Also, if you do find priests - actually contact the miller inn, and ask them for the priest that they use. I spoke to him and what a DOLL!! So personal, and informative. He explained this to me in great detail.
He was a former priest (Catholic) left and got married, and now is a minister. He is not in good standing with the Catholic church because of this.
Be sure to ask them what church they belong to and what kind of Christian that they are. But, know that you can be married by a Catholic priest since you are not Catholic but for you FH, that would be a sacrament of his faith. If the priest tells you this, RUN AWAY from him. It is false information and very untrustworthy of the priest. You can also call the Diocse and found out if the priest is in good standing with the Church.
