Re: Interfaith couples

hi,

i am having an interfaith wedding (i am catholic, fh is jewish) but we haven't officially chosen any readings yet.

i think what we will end up doing is choosing one from the old testament and one from the new testament. from the new testament, i will probably choose the letter from st. paul that goes, 'love is kind, love is patient, etc.'. it is one of my favorite passages and it really isn't so 'religious'. i'm not sure about the old testament reading.

another thing you can do is choose something completely non-religious. have you ever heard of the book 'the prophet' by kahlil gabhran? i would pick it up - there is one passage 'on marriage' that is beautiful and another one 'on love' that is also nice.

i recently got a book published by the knot called 'guide to wedding vows and traditions' that is really good for ideas on readings and generally how to structure your ceremony.

hope this helps!

I am also having an interfaith ceremony.
I have also thought about 'love is patient, love is kind.' I searched the internet and found many versions. I chose one without any religious mention. I am also looking for another one. I read the knot's book on vows and traditions and there was a lot of helpfully stuff. I am thinking about one I found on the internet about marriage. If you want a copy I can FM it.
My suggestions is search the internet for 'wedding vows' and you will find sites with readings as well. Good Luck
