Interfaith issues

Interfaith issues

My FH is jewish and I am Lutheran. I am okay with a jewish ceremony, but now his parents are throwing a fit since I won't convert and should therefore not be allowed under the chuppah. I am now trying to find a male, reformed rabbi that will help this little shiksa put together a jewish ceremony as well as I can- since I know only the traditions I have seen/heard of at other weddings.

If anyone knows of a rabbi that does interfaith weddings, I would GREATLY appreciate any referrals- Thanks!

My FH is not Jewish and he will be standing under our Chuppah.

Re: Interfaith issues

Reform Rabbis and Cantors that perform interfaith jewish weddings will absolutely allow the non-jewish partner under the chuppah.

the only differences are that the non-jewish partner cannot say the jewish wedding vow, they say something different, and you have to get an interfaith ketubah. that's all!

HTH!

feel free to FM me if you have any further questions. this is my area of expertise!

ETA:
you would not have to put the ceremony together, your Rabbi or Cantor would do that.

We are having an interfaith ceremony. I am Jewish (reform) and FH is not. We are having a chuppah. We are getting married by a Rabbi and Reverend. Sorry you are going through this.

I know how you feel- FH is jewish and I am catholic. We were going to have a non-denominational ceremony until his reformed mother found out and flippped out on me. She told me it was not negotiable and we were having a chuppa no matter what! I have almost 2 years to go too and already have to deal with this stressful issue.

We decided to have the Catolic ceremony done by a priest first- When that is finished, we will move from the Gazebo to under the Chuppa and have the rabbi preform the jewish ceremony.

And yet his family is still not happy- At this point I think it's just me!

Sorry you have to deal with this stuff too- but you arent alone
