Re: Interfaith Marriage
i am planning one. we are going to have a priest and a rabbi as co-officiants. basically, fh and i sat down and talked about different traditions in each of our faiths (i am catholic, he is jewish) that we would like to incorporate. i also bought the vows and traditions book from the knot to get ideas. then i came up with a rough sketch of what i wanted the ceremony to be like. then we found a priest and a rabbi that will work with us.
we are using rabbi renee feller, and though we haven't had our ceremony yet, she has been pleasure to work with. FM me for her info. our priest is a family friend (catholic priests are a little more finicky about these things, but there are great ones out there who do ceremonies regularly).
good luck

Re: Interfaith Marriage
I am planning one. I was raised Catholic and FH was raised Jewish. While neither one of us practice our faiths anymore I couldn't get married by a judge or by a 'rent a minister' (my uncle's words not mine). We are both very spiritual people and have recently started attending the Unitarian Church in Huntington. We are set to meet with the new Rev. there soon. He sent us a packet with different suggestions for each part of the service but he said anything is open to change.
We are definitely breaking the glass, mentioning God but no Jesus... oh and FH wants the minister to not look religious... robes of one denomination or the other.

Re: Interfaith Marriage
FH is christian, my family is jewish. neither one of practice, but we are still 'spritiual'. So we are getting married by a Non-secular minister. We are having some reference of God, but not based in any particular religion. We are not doing any religious tradition stuff either (no glass breaking, etc). The only thing we are doing that turned out to be a jewish tradition anyway is I am having both my mom and dad walk me down the isle. I decided to do this based on my closeness w/ both parents. Found out later that this was a jewish tradition.

Re: Interfaith Marriage
FH is Catholic and I'm Jweish and we're going to have a rabbi and reverand perform our ceremony. They will kind of go back and forth and we will encorperate certain things, like the unity candle, stepping on the glass, married under a chuppa, but we will also steer clear of being overly religious, like the two readings we chose are poems.
