Interfaith Marriage-desperate search for officiant
Being an out of town bride makes it really hard to find someone special to serve as an officiant for my wedding. Especially because my fiance is Jewish and I'm Muslim. Does anyone have any ideas for someone who is creative/sensitive to our backgrounds?

Why not try looking through all Unitarian churches. They celebrate all faiths

We are using Reverand Joe. His wife is Judy. Phone is 631-588-1181. I think that is the number. I have it at work, so I will double check tomorrow. They were referred by our hall and are THE BEST!! We created our own vows, readings and everything with them. Beware: she made me cry on the phone when she explained how they do the ceremony. When you meet them, they give you coffee and bagels to eat! Hehe. They really are great! Tell them that Kim from the Sept 30, East Wind wedding sent you. They charge about $450, $100 deposit and the rest on the day of. Please try them! I have referred a few others and they have been very pleased!

Everyone seems to be recommending Rev. even though you are muslim and your fiance is jewish. This is a bit confusing to me! I figured you'd be looking for a jewish/muslim/unreligious officiant. Could you fill us in a bit more on what your ideal would be? Did you want to have a joint jewish/muslim ceremony or are you looking for a justice of the peace or are you open to religions that aren't your own? I can recommend a jewish Cantor who does interfaith ceremonies if that is what you are hoping for. Let us know!

We used Susan Marlan. She advertises on this site now. She is wonderful. We had a very spiritual ceremony without including religion...exactly what we wanted. She charges $450. I beleive you need to leave $225 when you book and the balance on that night.
