Hi, i'm looking for an imam and priest/deacon/msgr for my sister-in-laws weddign coming up next month. Can anyone help with suggestion, names?

She's getting married next month and already had two officiants back out because of other committments. She also had no luck finding an imam. Her wedding is June 12!!!!!

Please if anyone can help

Hey there,

My FH is Muslim and I'm Christian - we're in the beginning talks with an imam from the Jamaica Muslim Center in Queens. I don't have the number with me - I'm at work now - but I do know that they have a website so you might want to try googling it. They were completely understanding of our interfaith relationship.

I do remember that it took them about a week or a week and a half to call us back after our initial voicemail, so don't stress if someone doesn't get back to you ASAP.

As for the legal ceremony, we have only decided that we're going to have a judge, but haven't started that search process as of yet.

are you wearing a scarf over your head? did they say that a veil would be fine?

Your sister in law should definately drape something over her head during the nikkah ceremony. It doesn't have to be tied up like a headscarf/hijab. She can remove it once the ceremony is over.

It's going to be hard finding an Imam to do an interfaith ceremony but I am sure it can be done. Her soon to be husband should visit some mosques in NYC an Queens in person.
