Interfaith PreCana dates-help!

I finally found a priest that has agreed to marry me and my fiancee, and so now I am trying to figure out where to do pre-cana. My priest from my old church told me that I need to do it through the Rockville Centre Parish and their only Interfaith Pre-Cana is on a bad date..(May 22nd and 23rd) my friend's bridal shower is on that day, and I am helping since I am a brides-maid! I need to find out of any other interfaith pre-cana in Nassau, or at this point, even Suffolk County would do(although I think it needs to be Nassau since I am getting married in Nassau County??), preferably on the Weekends. My wedding is July 10th, so it's gotta be before then. Thanks everyone!

I did my precana and am getting married at Our Lady of Lourdes. My FH is Baptist and I am Catholic. If you give them a call they will send you an app for the class. They will tell you what dates they have available. It was one day on a Sat, from 830 to 6. They give some breakfast, but you fend for yourself on lunch. It was very educational and the best part was it is FREE The number is 516-541-3270. The church is in Massapequa Park.

Free? I am going to the one on May 22 and 23 and it was far from free! I wonder why that is?

That's what I had to pay! I wish mine was free! I don't even want to do it but we have to in order for the priest to marry us. Oh well.

Re: Interfaith PreCana dates-help!

I was not aware that they had Pre-Cana specifically for interfaith couples. My fiance is not Catholic and this is the first I have heard of that (but he is Protestant, so maybe that is why.) We haven't been signed up for Pre-Cana yet, but did a questionnaire that was sort of prelim. to Pre-Cana, and the only difference for us and Catholic-Catholic Couples was that we had to answer an extra 15-20 questions.

As far as I know, you have to do Pre-Cana in the parish you live in or are getting married in, but it seems it may vary, depending on the parish. Have you checked with the parish where you are getting married to make sure it is OK to do it somewhere else? I am only asking b/c I would hate to see you looking all over for somewhere else to go and then have the parish say that you must come to theirs. If the parish lets you go to another parish for PreCana, it may not matter if it is in Suffolk, since both Nassau and Suffolk are in the Diocese of Rockville Center. Good luck!

YOu do not need a specific pre-cana.
I went last night for the first time and we broke up into groups. Our group of 4 couples had 3 interfaith and one couple wasn't there when we discussed it so maybe they are interfaith too.
