Re: INTERFAITH WEDDINGS
I am having not issues any longer but there were some for a while. My FH is Catholic and I am athiest. You can imagine they aren't please with that... Just try to stay calm and express your point of view. I'm sure you are both making compromises so each has the wedding and life you want. Marriage is about compromise, and you know what? Your wedding is the beginning of your life together with your FH. His (now) immediate family becomes SECONDARY. Do what you two need to do, they will learn to cope.

Re: INTERFAITH WEDDINGS
Marissa, I am truly sorry to hear you are having problems with your in-laws. This is supposed to be a happy time for not just the two of you, but for your entire family.
I am Jewish and my FI is Catholic. We have been together for 4 years, getting married in 24 days. Last month his mother had a revelation, oh my God - he's marrying a Jew and said she and his father weren't coming to our wedding. After three weeks of hell for my FI, she relented but is finding all other kinds of things to complain about.
What got us through were: A-My parents have been awesome and now FI and them have really bonded. B-We have been trying to please everyone, and realized that not matter what, not everyone will be happy, so we are doing what is best for the two of us from now on.

Re: INTERFAITH WEDDINGS
Marissa-- YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My FMIL (or the wicked witch of the South as I refer to her) and my FSIL (the mouth) have a huge problem with the fact that my mother is Jewish, making me half Jewish. They have made more antisemtic comments then I can even begin to repeat (I would fill the boards). I have finally got them to shut up. My FI told them to back off. That I am the woman that he loves and that I am the one that he has chosen to marry. The fact that her 'baby' stood up to her, shut FMIL mouth really fast. Now she only make stupid comments when she has been drinking and the last time she was dumb enough to make them to my mother. My mother told her a few choice things and all is quiet! Thank goodness. But I can definitely sympathize with you. It was so bad at one point I gave him back the ring and told him I was not marrying into this closed minded crap! But once he stood up to her and the his sister it all ended.
