Interview next week - a couple of ?'s

Hi girls! As some of you may remember I've posted about my job drama and how much I absolutely hate where I work, and have been struggling with whether to start looking for a new job or not with the wedding so close. Well last week a company called me that I interviewed with two years ago and asked if I would be interested in interviewing for a position. I'm very excited about the opportunity but have two questions:

-The HR person I will be meeting with first is very friendly and I know she will ask about the wedding (bc she genuinely is interested). Should I not wear my ring? I don't want the fact that I need several weeks off for my HM to be a roadblock from me moving on to 2nd interviews?
-Is in inappropriate to wear open toed shoes on an interview?

Thanks!

I think you should wear you ring . Honestly the fact that you are getting married is not something that will ruin your chances, this is something that was previously planned and you had time off for already. The same way if you had planned vacation and had tickets. I've had that happen to me and they were VERY understanding. They won't give you a hard time,...don't worry!. As for the shoes..I think closed is more professional. Once you get in...break out the open toes!! good luck!!!

I would keep the wedding conversation to a very short one. This is still an interview and your don't want to compromise your chances.

I would not do open toe shoes for an interview. You need to be professional and polished.

Good luck!

You'd de surprised just how picky some interviewers can be, I would wear closed-toe shoes just in case, it looks more professional IMO! Good luck!!

yes. mention it and that you've got a trip planned, but don't get too detailed...they are interviewing you NOT getting ideas for their wedding.

FBIL made the mistake of talking Penn State football at an interview b/c the guy brought it up...and he proceeded to talk about it for like 10 minutes...he did not get the job. and he contributes it fully to the football talk...i think the guy wanted to see if he was involved in school events NOT if he understood the ins and outs of football...same for a wedding...they'll ask you when/where...leave it at that...and since most people go on a honeymoon, that's just a given...if they ASK where, mention it. otherwise, keep it out.

and no open toed shoes...seems too relaxed/casual for an interview.

I agree with everyone else. They will need to know about the honeymoon anyway, you don't want to keep it from them. It's something that will be a requirement of you taking the job, right? The first interview probably isn't the first time you should mention time off. But I would ensure that that is understood before accepting the position so it doesn't cause issues later. Let the HR person control the conversation. Answer the specific questions posed with one or two interesting details but I wouldn't embellish beyond that.

And yes, closed toe would be best. I'm a fanatic about interviewing and had a lot of little 'unconcious' things that I would do to ensure the best chance possible.
