Intimidated by Klinfeilds...opinions anyone?

So i watched ONE episode of Say Yes to the Dress....and i had to shut it off because i had a panic attack. $10,000, $12,000....all these insane prices for a dress!!! I seriously posted some craziness on Facebook after watching that and my brother in law called me up asking if i was ok (haha, he's the best). I'm not quite ready to go looking for a dress yet (long engagement), but when i do i'm really worried that i'm going to be very intimiadated by that store!! Anyone go there and have any good (or bad) experiences. Its not like i'm looking to spend $50 on a dress....not sure of my budget but i've quit smoking and i calculated that i would save an extra 8000 from that alone...nowi'm rambling.

Any comments on experiences at Klinefields?

I had the same reservations before I went to Kleinfeld's. But if you give them your price range, they will show you gowns that you are able to afford. I think their gowns start at $1, 200 and up. I went to them first and it was a beautiful place. It is too bad that I didn't have a great shopping experience (but I think it may have been my consultant).

I ended up buying my gown from Bridal Reflections in NYC. I felt like a QUEEN at that place (even though my budget wasn't on the higher end).

Good luck!

I would just like to say...there are some designers that are expensive and they are very blingy, or have very unique designs @ kleinfelds and for these i understand payng $$$$$ for, but the majority of the time when I'm watching that show I see almost the exact same dresses that I have tried on in the 1-$2000 range, on that show for 5-$7000, and I just think that is ridiculous, I think if you are looking for a certain designer you know they carry, that is UNIQUE, or something over the top then kleinfelds could be the place for you, but if the style you want is something you've seen in magazines and online a million times, don't bother going there cause it will be about $4,000 more than everywhere else. If I were you I'd check out the enzoani lines- blue is like 1000-2500 and regular is lik 2500-4000, they have so many different styles, and honestly everytime i watch say yes to the dress i find myself sayin, i tried that exact dress on for $$$$$ less.

I have had nothing but a wonderful experience with working with Kleinfelds!!!! It is a beautiful place and I have always been treated like a queen. I went there because the only gown I liked in mags, was not in any other salon on LI. It was the first gown I put on, my consultant pulled other gorgeous gowns well within my price range, but I went with the one from the mag! I have had a great experience working with alterations and all staff ( they return calls in 24 hrs, email regularly, etc.). As far as price, I completely disagree with the idea that just because it is Kleinfelds it is overpriced. My gown was less expensive there than I had priced it to be online before going. I think it is unfair to judge a place based on a tv show, remember it's for entertainment. They have the largest selection and that includes the pricey gowns that may be featured on the show, but they have so much more to offer and definitely know weddings!

I was very happy with my experience there. They were not pushy at all. I told my consultant my price range and she actually brought me dresses much less than than I asked for. I ended up ordering my dress from them and have nothing but positive things to say--so far.

the only time it gets really expensive is when you try on dresses by designers that are exclusive to kleinfelds.. they do not up the price of dresses you can get elsewhere, bc they know you will. Negotiate. I had an amazing experience at kleinfelds.. i tried on dresses out of my budget because i wanted to and i asked to.. they tried to leep me from doing it in the end, they all told me (even randy) that the less expensive dress was the one. thats rare when people work for commission

I dont think theyre anything special. I bought my dress there from my 1st wedding. I think theyre overpriced and their alteration pricing is criminal.

Hey thats just my opinion. You can find a nice salon thats just as good as them...and caps their alterations.

I had a fine experience there... they showed me dresses within my budget ($2,000). I didn't LOVE any of the dresses though.

I had an amazing experience there.. They weren't pushy.. I think it's especially good if you like certain designers that only kleinfelds carries like Pnina Tornai. I met the designer and bough her gown that day. Pnina even took my meausrements! So cool!

I went there last week and had the same concerns. The lady i met with was great...i showed her a picture of what i had in mind and the first dress she pulled was the one i liked best. And the best part was i told her my budget was $2000 and unlike some of the other consultants, she only showed me dresses below my price. She had a few that were $1200 & $1400 which were great. She even told me that I shouldnt get my dress altered through kleinfelds and that she could give me the name of a few good people in my area that will charge less. I was so impressed by her honesty and lack of pushy-ness. In the end I did not buy the dress bc i am still torn between two.
It is definitely worth going and dont be intimidated!

I was there and told them my honest budget and they had lots of dresses for me to try! They are very helpful and don't make you fel bad if you have a more moderate budget,
