Okay so I've been sporadically posting here but never introduced myself. Noticed there were other new people here too.
I'm Liz, I'm living in Chicago while attending grad school while my FH is a naval officer on a ship on the West Coast. He's deploying in April and back (hopefully!!!) in time for our late October wedding. My parents live on LI which helps but so many out of towners are expected that it seems like a big ol' complicated affair.
I enjoy this site and would love to get to know you all a little better.
Anyone else?

I am Megan. I live here on LI in a home we just bought over the summer. I am 27, been with my FH for 4+ years, and am planning a 11/15/2008 wedding.
Must be hard for you with Fh away and trying to plan a wedding. But it seems like you are having fun with it!

Hi Liz
I am Catie. My FH is actually in the Marine Corps and is stationed in Japan. But in March/April he is going to Iraq as well (unfortunately). We were going to get married 9/26/08 but he won't be back from Iraq until middle of Nov. Therefore we changed our date to 12/20/08.
Good Luck with planning and I hope you don't have to change your date- because it is annoying lol. And good luck to your FH

We've already had our date pushed around b/c of the Navy.
Please be in touch when he deploys. I will be thinking of you both.
Isn't it wonderful though to have something so fun to look forward to when they get back?
Do you know many other Marine fiancees/ girlfriends?

Aww thank you I will be thinking of your FH and you as well. I know it will be hard but thankfully there are other people out there that understand what we deal with lol
actually jesaroo2 (jessie) her FH is in the Army Reserves and has been deployed before and I am good friends with her. And I have 2 other friends that have boyfriends/fiances in the Marines.
It does get me excited knowing that we have such a big event to look foward to when he comes home!! I can't wait. It is just hard because our whole relationship he has been away I am just ready for him to be home for good!! lol Sorry you had to change around your wedding. I am hoping it sticks for good!! Good Luck planning!!

it must be hard planning a long distance wedding...but everyone on here is so helpful so i am sure girls on LIW will make it alot easier for you

Liz, I understand the LD part (thankfully my future hubby isn't in the military though!) But I am in California, and he's in Long Island - I won't be moving there 'til June or July! LD planning is difficult! Good luck and I hope your guy is back in time!
