Re: Invisalign

I'm currently using it and am so happy with the results so far. I go to Dr. Zipkin on Brush Hollow Rd in Westbury, he also has an office in Glen Cove.

I had one tooth that was a little crooked and want fixed for my wedding. The amount of work you need done determines the # of 'aligners' you will need, in my case I have 12. You wear one for 2 weeks and then switch. I am on my 6th one now and I really started to see results with #5.

You can't see it unless soeone is really close to you, and you don't even feel it after a while. I'm at the point now where I feel strange without it in when I take it out to eat. It's a bit pricey but well worth it in my opinion.

Re: Invisalign

I had braces 2 years ago. I had the invisalign onthe
top and the regular ceramic on the bottom since you can never see my
bottom teeth. I had them on for a year and changed sets
every two weeks. It was nice to have them. No one ever knew I had
them on. You could waer them on the day of your wedding no
one would know. It's only a pain cause you have to take them
out everytime you eat, so I'd have to excuse myself and
got to the bathroom, or pull them out in front of
everyone. They're comfortable and worth it! I went to
Dr. Schwartz in Bayside on Bell Blvd. He also has
a LI
office.

Re: Invisalign

I am using invisalign. My doctor is Scott Gersch at NYC Dental on 24th street. I like them alot and only a few people have ever noticed (close friends).

I have been wearing them since April and change them every two weeks. They are a little painful the first day since it's so tight but to curb it, I change them at night. By the time I wake up they are not as painful.

I have to wear the top aligners for 30 trays to change every 2-weeks (on # 18 now). I will wear the bottom aligners for over two years - 65 trays. I have an overjet that I want to correct on top and I have two missing teeth on the bottom that were pulled in college. Instead of getting implants (way in the back and on opposite sides of my mouth), Dr. Gersch is moving all of my bottom teeth forward.

I did learn last week that I may have to get regular braces for one tooth. It is a little lower than the others and is not 'tracking' correctly in the bottom tray. Dr. Gersch says that will only take about 2 weeks to fix though (with metal braces).

I was told that I do not have to wear them at all on my wedding day. I plan to take them out before the ceremony (for pics) and then put them in after the reception so about 6 - 7 hours without them.

If you don't mind me asking, how much does it cost? I'm interested but don't have dental insurance...

Re: Invisalign

For top and bottom regular braces three years ago, it was
$5000. To do invisalign for one year just on top,
it was $7000. If I wanted invisalign on top and bottom
it would have been $9000. The payment plan
was $250 a month.

Re: Invisalign

I am using them and am SO HAPPY with the results. My biggest concern was am I going to be done by the wedding day. Definitley, they work pretty fast. No one has noticed except after I tell them. I absolutley love these things and need to thank my FH for pushing me to do it. I always wanted straight teeth but at my age and with work I did not want a metal mouth either.

I sent you FM.

I go to Dr. Z too!!!
I opted for the Essex device (looks just like Invisalign). It's slightly cheaper than Invisalign & worked SO fast!!! I had one tooth that shifted from my Wisdom teeth & it moved almost overnight!

My insurance does not cover it but I use my flexible spending account (pre tax medical & prescription $ set aside). I paid $3500 for my invisalign for all tray (30 on top & 65 on bottm). It would have been $4500 but NYU was (and may still be) running a special. If you pay all of it upfront it is $1,000 cheaper.

A woman at my office paid $6K for her invisalign about a year ago. Some doctors charge per tray so don't think they are trying to scam you if that is the fee structure.
