invitation addresses wording- anyone else frustrated?

invitation addresses wording- anyone else frustrated?

Does anyone else have an issue with Mr. and Mrs. John Doe??

Why does a woman's first name get excluded just because she took her husband's last name?

Are there any other correct etiquette options? My wedding is probably too formal for John and Jane Doe.

Thanks!

Ahhh I'm sorry my post may not be that helpful for your question but I sooo hate how the woman's name is taken out and am going to make sure that my FH and I are introduced with both our first names with our new same last name :)

I refuse to use Mr. and Mrs. John Doe. I just can't bring myself to do it!

I am having a formal wedding, but am addressing the invitations as Jane and John Doe (no Mr. and Mrs.).

Do what you feel comfortable with....it's your wedding and they are both acceptable forms of address.

We weren't uniform in our address wording. For some older couples, who are more traditional, we used Mr. and Mrs. John Doe. For our friends who are younger and more modern, we did John and Jane Doe.

That's a good idea

i totally feel the same way, i wanted to have both man and woman's name. the woman that printed my envelopes took it upon herself to change all my hard work and now even the inner envelopes say mr and mrs john doe. i was kind of upset about it, but it is formal at least.

I was thinking that myself. For the more feminist types on my invite list, I actually did Mr. John Doe and Mrs. Jane Doe. I don't see why you can't do something like that or Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Doe. The only issue is that it can get a little long and take up the entire envelope.
