Invitation Addressing HELP

Invitation Addressing HELP

I'm getting the list together for the invites and I have a few questions

1) I searched online and it said for example if you have 205 E 42nd street then it should read 205 East Fourty-second Street. Is this how everyones doing it? What if you have an address thats 205 E 214th Street, do I spell that out as well?

2) I do not have inner envelopes but I am inviting some families and their children as well . Do I adress the envelopes with all of their names? One family has 3 daughters and it's so many lines. It says never to put and guest or and family so what do I do?

Thanks!!

yeah mine were spelled out but numbers im not sure if they were, i cant remember. If its a long number then i would just use the number. But i do remember for example new york had to be spelled out, so it would be Astoria, New York.

But write out east, west, street, avenue, boulevard and all that.

ETA: here i just checked how calligrapher did it and no didnt write out the number.

Here is one of mine that were done with a number

Re: Invitation Addressing HELP

oh and here is what an invitation person told me regarding the whole and guest.

Yes etiquette does say do not put and guest on the outside but since times have changed there are acceptions now. Now we have pocketfolds with no inner envelopes so you can put and guest on that outer.

Are the daughters over 18? if so then send them their own invite. If not and theyre younger then i would do and family

Thanks so much, I didn't know we could do and family. They are under 18 (i think it's FH's cousins). There are others were are def under 18 they're children.

yeah i dont see how else to do it, otherwise like you said would be so long to list everybody. In the end the way i see it, as long as they understand thats what counts lol.

Re: Invitation Addressing HELP

I am so glad I read these posts. I am trying to make sure I get the address information correct before I start preparing invitations. I did find this link to be a good but basic helpful resource.

http://www.ehow.com/how_4434861_correctly-address-wedding-invitation-envelopes.html

I had no idea about the numbers, or writing out the state though. Anything else I ought to know? Does anyone else have a more thorough reference? Thanks for all the help you have already provided.

Re: Invitation Addressing HELP

I spelled out states, apartment numbers and the word 'street/avenue/road' but not the actual streets if it were a number.

So I did:
100 East 42nd Street
Apartment 9A
New York, New York
10011

Re: Invitation Addressing HELP

What would you do about a city or town with an abbreviation? Such as: St. Pete Beach or Ft. Salonga?
