I am doing custom pocketfolder invites. I have the invite design, the response card, and most of the wording down. I also had CardsandPockets design custom pocketfolders. Now I need to figure out the final touch for the belly band. It will look similar to this: but without the torn edges and the design elements will be different to match my invite theme which is paisley. Anyway, please help me decide what to put on the outside of the pocketfolder on the belly band! We have more room then the photo – my invites are 6x6 square so the front viewable part of the band will be about 2”H x 6”L. I put my ideas on the poll put please add your own! TIA!

Re: Invitation Belly Bands - What Should they Say?
I like the example one--name and date.
Can I ask where you found that pic? It's gorgeous! Probably more than I can afford, but I love to look.

I voted for names and wedding date
Can I ask what type of customization you requested from cards and pockets? I'm also doing 6x6 pocketfolds and didn't realize we had another option! Do your custom ones cost extra?
Thanks! You can FM me if you don't want to post the info.

It’s a letterpress company called [L]=http://www.papelvivo.com]Papel Vivo[/L]. They are very reasonably priced for letterpress however im not sure I would recommened them. They were originally the company I contacted to do my invites. The woman came back to me with a proof that I fell in love with. We negotiated price a bit. A week later she emails me saying her letterpress printer is pregnant and they put her on bed rest and they had to cancel all of their orders so she would no longer be able to do my invites. I was very compassionate since she seemed to be freaking out about what to do with her business. I thanked her for her help and even told her I would pay her to continue to design the invite and I would find another printer to have them printed. She refused, which she has every right to do, and that was that, we left on good terms. I have since found another printer that I like, but I can’t say that I have recaptured the look of the original design. I am happy with what I have, but it’s not quite as beautiful as that first invite that Papel Vivo did. Now normally I would just feel bad for her and leave it at that – however I noticed two things. 1. She doesn’t say ANYWHERE on the site that she is no longer accepting orders. 2. Since I have spoken with her the site has been updated with new designs. So I’m a little curious as to how she is suddenly able to do business again. I really want to email her from a different address to see if she’s really still in business or not. Anyway so that story is kind of long but since you asked who made them I figured I would share where it came from and my experiences with them.

No its fine I’ve had great experiences with them! It’s Cards and Pockets I’ve been working with Becky and shes been an absolute doll. I originally contacted her because I really wanted to do square pocketfolders like their perfetto folders but larger. In the end I will likely get the same size as the perfetto maybe only slightly larger, but with a custom cut. I wasn’t sure what customization I wanted done. She gave me many options including embossing and stamping and all sorts of stuff. But then after my Paper Vivo invite experience I had to find a new printer and my costs when up about 20% with the new printer. So I changed my mind on the pockets and had Becky just do a custom cut on the flap of the folder. She has been amazing getting back to me with images and now even physical samples in all of the my color options. She does charge $140 set up fee for custom jobs (may be different per job). As for the pockets themselves, I’m not sure what the exact price is, I think around $2-$3. the standard ones on her site are $1.10 for this design. So that should give you an idea of how much they cost. I should be receiving my proof samples to finalize my paper choice sometime in the next few days. I will post when I get it. Good luck and if you go this route tell Becky I recommended her cause shes awesome!

Wow, that's crazy. Sorry to hear that. Really poor business. I really have no business even looking at letterpress, but if I could, that would be a big red flag to stay away from them. Thanks for the info.

What is letterpress?
Just an idea...my friend did that type of invite and on the belly band she had the chorus from their wedding song written on it.
I love the pic of the one you posted too.

letterpress is a printing method where they use soft paper and the ink literally gets pressed into the paper. this is unlike regular printing methods where the ink is sits above the paper. letterpress is almost like opposite embossing, when you feel the paper its actually indented with the ink and design.
i was thinking of something like live, laugh, love in script with the date underneath in block font. i want to add that to the poll but i dont know how to edit the poll

It looks good with the names and the date, but it sounds like you want something else. Is there a quote that you like? Or a motto? Something that means something special to you, like a song lyric? That would look wonderful on the bellyband. Such as if you know you're going to use the 1st Corinthians reading at the wedding, you could put 'Love is Patient, Love is Kind' on there. Or whatever you like.

yes i am definitely going for something like that. i mean the invite already has our names and date and the stamps(we are doing the custom ones) and seal will probably have the date as well.
anyone know how to edit a poll?? i want to add live, laugh, love. I cant do our song cause we dont have one yet

Re: Invitation Belly Bands - What Should they Say?
Letterpress is the most expensive invitation option. The design and text is pressed into the paper (which feels more like cloth) with plates. It's pretty expensive, but absolutely gorgeous.

I'm pretty sure that engraving is more expensive. Think it goes: engraving, letterpress, thermography, offset, home printing, crayon.

Re: Invitation Belly Bands - What Should they Say?
That's what I thought but my boss told me no. She just got engraving and said it would've been a lot more for letterpress. Hmm. Well, they're both too pricey for me.

We just send out our invitations, and I only came up with our 'motto' or whatever you want to call it last week. But I can have it on our programs, and I'm going to engrave it in my ring. It's 'Semper Amemus,' which means 'Let us love always' in Latin. I took a LOT of Latin in college. Which is why I always think mottos and sayings sound better in Latin.

Like most things, I assume it depends who you go to and what you get. Such as, it might be less to get engraved invitations from Crane if you get their standard design, than if you get letterpress from Ceci Design and they specially design an entire set of invitations, place cards, programs, etc., all for you. But I think as far as the actual cost of the process is concerned, engraving is the most expensive.
