Girls who mailed inviations.....I thought I read about there being a surcharge for square invitations...is this true? I would like layered cards or pocketfolds....but if rectangular ones are less to mail I may take that into consideration. Any advice?

Re: Invitation Cost
i sent square invitations, they weren't pocket fold just 2 layers of paper, but they didn't cost me extra. Only whatever it weighed for postage. I mean, that was last year, things could have changed, but they never said anything about them being square.

Re: Invitation Cost
Square invites weigh more and because of that, they are a little more money to mail. I also heard that they are more because they don;t fit into their postmarking machines but not sure about that bec you can always hand cancel ???

i just went for postage and because my envelope is squared and oversized according to the post office my postage is 1.22 for each.

Re: Invitation Cost
I just sent out my invites. I had to pay 20 cents extra because they were pocketfold square invites and could not fit through the machines. I had them hand canceled...but you still have to pay the extra because the invites still go through a machine after the hand canceling.

Re: Invitation Cost
Mine were square pocketfolds and I paid $1.05 for them to be mailed. It wasnt mentioned to me about there being an issue with them being square BUT I think something about the shape or size makes the post office consider it a larger envelope...
Rectangle MIGHT be cheaper but cant guarantee that =/ sorry I cant be more of a help...

Re: Invitation Cost
I have seen a lot of girls say that square have a surcharge. personally I used a wax stamp to seal mine and was told if it was too thick there would be a surcharge so that might also happen if the pocketfolds bulge too much.
now I don't know if they have just one surcharge for everything or do they keep adding up - - so much if square, then more if too fat . . . that you might want to check on.

Re: Invitation Cost
Yep it is true there is a fee for square invites- I do not know the breakdown b/c my mom handled mailing my invites but the total/invite was $1.05. They were 7.5 x 7.5 inches...with all of the inserts etc.
