Invitation, Cost???

Can you give me an idea of what Invitations are going for... I'm trying to work out my budget and I know they completely vary, but I just want an idea.

Invitation costs depend on whether you DIY, order online or go through a company/vendor. Obviously the latter is more expensive. For some people, the invitation is very important. For me, it's not that important. I want something nice but not spending a lot since it ends up in the garbage anyways.

If you're really looking to save and don't mind a little DIY, go to Amazon and order blank invitations. FMIL found these really cute blank invites through Club Wed on Amazon, purchased about 4 sets of 50 each for a total of $32, and is printing them on her laser printer. You shouldn't be paying $500 for invitations!

I spend 500 including $100 in postage..but I did not include a registry card, nor directions, and a post card style return card

It really depends on what you want. Pre made ones can cost 1.00 each up to 6 or 7 dollars each for ones that are very elaborate.
I bought a DIY kit and I made 100 invites for about 50$

It really depends on how important invitations are to you... this is one area I'm not willing to spend a lot on, so my budget per invite is $2 plus postage.

You can get really nice ones for a good price if you shop around. Mailing them cost about $100 including rsvp stamps. $3-5 and invite seems to be the going rate. Also have to factor in the addressing cost. If you want more info just let me know, I dont like posting too much on this public site. Nosy not brides lurk too much.

Good point! It doesn't have to be extravagant to still be beautiful!

Set a budget you are comfortable with & stick with it.

Good Luck!

mine were about 700 for 150, plus about 220 for addressing and 100 for stamps. All in all a little over 1000

After trying to DIY I eventually ordered several samples from BBB and American Weddings. I also ordered some from Invitation Consultants. After looking over them and getting opinions, we liked this particular one the best and it happened to only be .99c per invite! The response cards were .60c !

The colors matched our venue.
In person, the paper has a shiny finish and looks very 'expensive'.
I suggest ordering samples because some I thought looked nice, looked very cheap in person.

I think it cost $300 for 125 and I paid a little extra to have the inner envelope lined with a pearl lining as well as having the return address printed on the envelopes.

I just ordered mine from BBB and highly recommend them. They are great to work with, got the online proof within a half hour. I made a change overnight, they got it to me first thing next day. They are pretty reasonable too, and their paper stock is good quality. I recommend ordering samples too..that is how we found ours!
