INVITATION COST OPINIONS

I am trying to figure out if I am spending too much on invitations & I would greatly appreciate everyones opinions. Is it crazy to spend $1200.00 on 125 invitations????

i have to agree also- spending $1200 on 125 invites, is a bit high for me! i spent $250 on 200 invites but i just wanted to cut costs

Try evenstarpaperie.com. They're custom made to your wedding and theme and she does them all by hand and you can get them for less than $500. Check out the portfolio for samples.

Invitations range in prices, just like everything else for the wedding from dresses to catering halls. The invitation is what sets the tone for the day for your guests. It was very important to me ... to some, it is a lower priority.

The recommended budget for invitations is 5% for everything, from invitations to calligraphy to stamps, etc. Many people spend less, and some people spend more. You have to go with what feels comfortable to you.

Something custom with heavy cardstock, hand tied ribbons, pockets, layered cardstock will likely be in that price range. It *can* even be as high as $3,000 - $4,000.

Most invitations in the $250 - $400 range are simple flat cards that are pre-manufactured and then printed.

It all depends on the look that you are going for, and what is in your budget.

Although it is more than I was looking to spend (I spent about $800 for 125 invites), if it is within your budget, it is not a totally outrageous amount to spend. I've fell in love with a few invites that would have cost quite a bit more than you are being quoted.

Yup i totally agree. I feel like i wanted to spend alot in this area. I feel its just as important as any other aspect. JMO! I had no problems spending 3200 on 125 invtes. It was my decision & im so happy. My invite is gorgeous & the cardstock is amazing the hand tied ribbons the layered paper & the brooch are just phenominal! I dont regret my decision at all. If you love it get it!

ditto...other than you, your parents, and FH's parents how many other people will actually keep the invite? Maybe your MOH and Best Man? Maybe your Bridesmaids? Maybe some other family members or friends? But the majority will not keep it, nor even appreciate the look, feel, theme, etc.

However, this is YOUR wedding, and if YOU want to spend that much $ on your ivites, then you should. The worst thing than spending that money is NOT spending it and then regretting it.

If you're asking complete strangers if $1200 is a lot of money, then you probably already think it is. So, the better question you be asking is are you willing to spend that much on 125 invites.

just to play devils advocate ...

flowers die.

food gets eaten.

music stops playing.

you wear your dress once.

all the things we spend money on for the wedding are used for such a short time, and all contribute to the whole of the day.

as i said above, we all have different priorities for what is worth spending money on.

jmho ...

Not crazy..... I was going to be spending more than that for my invites bc I need more....however, then I found Tessa from evenstarpaperie.com.

She is a genius and her work is phenomenal, plus the quality is excellent. Best of all, her prices are extremely reasonale and now I am spending a lot less. My invite is in my album, but def. check out her site for ideas. She is a sweetheart to work with, def. the best vendor so far! FM me if you want more details.

We're getting ours at a discounted price through DirectBuy... at least 125 with reception cards/response cards, addresses on return envelopes, etc...

for $130

Edited: and they are what you would find in a paperie, folded half cover, bow, raised images etc...
